Wise Eyes Optical - Altoona, PA

I used to love this place and the doctor is fantastic!!!! We have been dropped as patients due to having to cancel appts and apparently had 3 no shows, 1 recent, which was canceled prior to appt due to the deaths. We had 3 appts that day but they only canceled 2 of them, and 2 dating back to 2013!!!!! I had explained that the canceling was due to 2 deaths in our family l, which I told them when we had canceled, and all I got was I understand but it's policy. So if you have someone pass in your family, make sure you make you appts or they will drop you. I have been with this doctor for over 10 years and this is how they treat you.

Got a pair of glasses with bifocals & a pair of straight readers. Dr. was very good & sales assistants nice, & helpful. But their warranty is only 30 days. Never in my 40 adults years buying glasses have I ever had less than one year warranty. If I knew that, I wouldn't have went there and spent over $600.00. They really need to improve this warranty! Sadly, I will find a new place to buy my glasses simply because of this extremely short warranty.

This place is an absolute JOKE. I called to schedule an appointment to have my eyes dilated so photographs could be taken for my neurologist. I made the appointment at the beginning of the month for a date at the end of the months. I called the afternoon before to find my appointment the day before and that's when they let me know they don't accept my insurance... so after being initially frustrated, because they had more than 20 days to contact me to let me know about that, I just accepted I'd be footing the bill and went to my appointment anyways. My husband had to take off work because the woman I spoke to said that the eye drops would cause vision problems for a few hours after my appointment and I'd need someone to drive us. Imagine my suprise when I walked in and spoke with the woman.... she told me that " we don't have a machine that takes photos of your eyes" - so what in the hell am I doing here? This place wasted my time and my husbands time. Idk who is taking appointments there but they need fired.

My experience was horrible. None of the women wanted to help me find a pair of glasses. When trying to decided I informed the woman my insurance only covered a certain dollar amount, but when I would ask her which pairs were cheaper she refused to tell me and told me they were close enough in price it shouldn't matter. Well considering I was paying for them to me it did matter. I got my glasses hadn't even had them a whole two maybe three months and the side hand fell off. The screw wouldn't screw back in so I had to take them to the store, the screw was stripped so they had to replace it. My frames are bronze they put an oversized bright silver screw in it's place. Not even a month after that my nose pieces started falling off. This is the most expensive pair of glasses I have bought in years and within four months they had completely fallen apart. Also they smudge up horribly. I use cleaner on them and within minutes they looked smudged again. I normally buy from a cheap competitor, but because I had new insurance I wanted to get what I thought was more high end quality by going to wise eyes. BIG MISTAKE! I will never go here again.

The worst glasses and service I've ever received. My lens keep falling out and was lost outside and I had to clean them six or more times a day. In less than 30 days I wanted a new pair and they said I would have to pay for them. Sent something to the corporate office and they never responded. If I would have read the reviews I never would have used this business. I'm still without glasses two years later. I had previously went to Dr Imler in Duncansville Pa and they lastEd over 4 years. I wish I would've returned there I'd have glasses today. I never got a refund and I paid almost $200 with my insurance!!!

Dr. Riva is just the best. I was having a very scary issue with my eyes and she came in on her day off just to take care of me! There's not too many doctors like that anymore. She always operates in a professional,friendly,and thorough manner. I have been going to her for years and appreciate how well she takes care of me and the health of my eyes. All of the staff at Wise Eyes is always so friendly and helpful as well. It's always a good experience at Wise Eyes.

I have terrible eye sight and will spend over $600 to get 2 pairs of glasses. My problem is, I cannot see how they look on my face because to see, I have to put my nose to the mirror. Twice before, I was given a trial pair of contacts as close to my script as possible. They don't carry my severity. This time they said no, not without a fitting. For $40. I don't need a fitting for something I'm only wearing for an hour. Just to see the frames. They still said no. I'll take my $600 plus sale somewhere else. I can't use pics on computers to see a real-see. I want to move my head and see how the look live. They don't understand or care. I miss the old staff who actually cared.

I will never go here again and I'm going to go to any length I possibly need to go to to ruin this wise eyes because not only did they number one lied to me but number two they disrespected me and my family by talking down to me and also taking advantage of me for a condition that I have no control over whatsoever. She told me that she would cut my glasses that day because I have a prescription that makes it illegal for me to drive without my glasses and they were stolen. She knew that I was driving illegally and told me still to come in that day she would cut them for me so when I did she told me oh never mind I can cut them for you now because the machine is too loud it's going to inconvenience are other customers. So when I called back to asked to speak with a manager it was the same woman and she refused to give me an any information for anyone else above her that I could speak to you about the situation that was happening in that store so if any One can tell me what it is I can possibly do about the situation and making sure that something is done about it please let me know because she sat there and told me that it was more important that the doctor asked her not to do it because the noise was inconveniencing the other customers versus me driving illegally without a prescription picking my four-year-old child up off of the bus. They've known this for two weeks and they told me that all the time and that is long as I had $200 to pay for the lenses and the frame that they would do it that day so not only did I driving here for someone that lie to me But also drove in here illegally
