Dawn V Herzig, DO

My daughter has been going to Everitte and Hurite for 26 years now. She used to see Dr Hoover til he retired. She is special needs so Darren Hoover transfered us to Dawn Herzig who is caring and listens and has alot of patience w her. Everyone in the office is very nice too. Dawn Herzig did eye surgery on 2/13/2026 at Mercy hospital eye institute. Everyone in there from check in to discharge was very nice. Before surgery my daughter was getting anxious and they did everything possible to calm her. They let her take her stuffed animal into surgery w hair net and gloves on and I asked if we could be there in room when she got out of surgery we were in there before she got back to the room. She gets very upset when no one from family isnt there. Everything went well. At the follow up appointment she still treated us well. Dawn Herzig is a very positive upbeat person. Highly recommend her.

We previously went through UPMC Children's for all of our pediatric eye care. Two of my children were born extremely premature and have had multiple eye issues, including surgeries, so we believed continuing care through UPMC Children's was our only option. Unfortunately, we were having a very difficult time getting in touch with them and even getting appointments scheduled. I called Everett & Hurite and was able to schedule appointments right away, and I am so grateful we did. Every single staff member at the Canonsburg location was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. The doctor was absolutely wonderful with my young child--engaging, gentle, and clearly experienced in working with kids who may be nervous or have complex histories. They made the entire visit fun and comfortable while still being thorough and ensuring everything needed for a proper eye exam was done. It was such a relief to feel heard, supported, and confident in my children's care. I would highly recommend Everett & Hurite to anyone with young children who need eye care, especially those with more involved medical histories. We couldn't have had a better experience.

I had tripped walking down a sloped area, the right side of my head fell onto a large rock. After this incident my right eye began drifting to the right, I started having double vision. Playing any activity like bowling, pool, or throwing darts was impossible and unbelievably embarrassing. I was referred to physician that told me nothing could done to improve my condition, his conclusion devastated me. His diagnosis of my untreatable condition was done after only spending approximately 8 minutes with me. I did not give up, I was next referred to Dr. Dawn V. Herzig DO, at Canonsburg, PA. Right from the start I could tell she honestly cared, she performed numerous test on my vision and concluded I needed to have surgery to improve my vision. I can't over emphasize how much confidence I had in Dr Dawn V Herzig DO recommendation , even though I am extremely skittish, sensitive, and protective of my eye. She performed the eye surgery, throughout this procedure she kept me informed from beginning to end. If you could see through my eyes prior to this surgery you would understand why I say she performed a miracle. I can see like I use to. I am so thankful to her and her staff. Of all the reviews I have written this one of Dr. Dawn V Herzig DO is my highest. I welcome anyone wanting to ask me questions to contact me by leaving me message. Dr Herzig, is amazing! She is the absolute best human being! Our special needs son absolutely adores her. As a physician she is at the top of her profession.

Dr. Herzig is the best! She is so patient and thorough. My daughter has been seeing her for years since she was a toddler. She is so kind and gentle with little ones.

Excellent Dr Thorough, very precise, and very kind. She is very personable, which is unusual for specialists, especially for one of her caliber. She really knows her stuff. I am a very complicated case and usually require a lot of time and effort to help me. But even though I knew she was hurried because of her schedule, she did not make me feel hurried at all. She took her time to get it right.

Today was my first appointment with Dr. Herzig and I think it went well. She is kind, professional, efficient, and caring. The appointment was shorter than expected but plans for my treatment were clearly and honestly stated. I am grateful that she was able to accept new patients!

she was amazing with my 2 1/2 year old so patient and encouraging. i would 100% recommend her to anyone who needs to see an eye dr especially children!
