I returned to Corl Family Eyecare again today. Once again, I had expert care. I was greeted at the front desk. I found a lovely frame with the help of Hailee. I also briefly got to see my eye doctor. Thank you so much again!
Lazy is all I can say. My child should have gotten a full exam and not just a 20 minute office visit. We were told no patch needed and glasses for life (ah, a permanent customer?) Goto a specialist and find out, yes a patch is needed and now possible surgery. Dilated eyes? Never done. I wish I could give a zero to this place. I just hope this review helps someone who is looking to take their child here. Don't. Let a specialist or even just someone who cares, look at your child. If you want to hear only what you want to hear and kick the can down the street. Then this is your place!
If I could Leave zero stars I would! When I started coming here it was good service. However, recently I made an appointment for me and my son to come in for our glasses & contacts. The day before my appt one of the receptionist(Angelica) reached out to and stated that my insurance was inactive and not to come to my appt because they wouldn't be able to accept me unless it was active. ( i called my insurance and indeed it was active, it was a issues on corl family's end) I thought this was ODD because she never once asked me if i could pay out of pocket or anything. She asked if i would like to reschedule and i stated not right now i will call back because i didn't have my schedule with me. So the next day which was my appt i called to reschedule and she stated that my son would have to pay a $40.00 fee for missing his appt today. Mind you Corl Family called me and told me not to come and i would need to reschedule my appt. i asked to speak with the manager (Jary Moury) and she yelled and stated that i would need to bring in a voice recording for her to listen to etc because basically i was lying. I asked to speak with someone higher than her and she told me to call the line back and press a number. I reached out to the BBB and complained and they still haven't reached out to me. I have been with these people for years and never had a problem till now. I would never come back unless i get a apology. Because I was told I was a liar!!.
Great experience. Needed to see someone quickly for an eye injury, got me in the same day. Exceptional care, super nice staff.
Fantastic customer service, large selection of glasses, the staff was quick and very nice, doctor did not rush and made sure my vision problems were all taken care of. The staff in the glasses sales area even helped me pick between my top 3 choices when I couldn't decide and didn't rush me or anything!
I know this is going to be a long review but I hope it helps someone. We moved to the Harrisburg area a year ago and I needed to find all new doctors for my kids. The only eye doctor I could find anywhere that accepted their insurance (gateway health ,now highmark wholecare) was a little place in duncannon. My daughter got her perscription (+4 something, age 4) and a pair of glasses, but it seemed very off from her perscription from her old doctor's perscription (+1 something, age 2). She had lost her +1 glasses and hadn't worn anything in awhile until she got her +4 glasses. She didnt like wearing the +4 glasses and when I did find her +1 glasses, she said they were clearer. Utterly confused, I looked again for a third optometist to see if the +4 prescription was wrong. I see that corl opened an office in Harrisburg . My husband went to the Lebanon office with the same insurance and said the doctor (Dr. Swoyer) was really good and when he got his glasses from there he said it was so clear that he saw details that he never knew existed. So ok good, I'll take her there. Dr. Swoyer said that it was hard to get an accurate perscription reading bc kids have a hard time controlling the muscles in their eyes so he suggested she come back and he'd do the drops. We did and during her exam, she was seeing tiny shapes really well. He got a true reading of +6 something. He went on to explain to me that my daughter has an astigmatism that is quite severe and if left untreated her brain will eventually stop trying to connect to her eye this creating a lazy eye. So long story short, her relaxed, natural eye is off +6. The +4 is as far as her muscles would allow the eye exam to see bc her eye was so used to trying so hard. The +4 perscriton was blurry bc her eye is so used to being in an over- corrected state. So to get her eye back to a relaxed state, her eye needs to go through so much readjustment that at first it will be blurry but then it will start to be able to focus in a relaxed state with the glasses doing the correcting. (Dr. Swoyer explained it better). No one explained this to me before but he made sure I understood what was going on, what to expect, and it all makes sense now. Thanks to him making sure my daughters exam was thorough, he caught what the previous placed missed which is that her eye was worse than what that dr thought and prescribed her. Dr. Swoyer knows his stuff, is excellent at what he does, and did really well in interacting and dealing with my young daughter as a patient. I credit him to pretty much saving my daughters sight in her messed up eye. Additionally, the place looks and feels upscale and all the employees are really kind, patient, helpful, and welcoming. A lady helped me figure out what our insurance covered for glasses, what we could upgrade to, recommendations, etc. We ended up going with covered frames but putting out the cost to upgrade to a high index lens and coating. I feel so happy knowing my daughter has what she needs. We won't go anywhere else and I reccomend Corl to anyone. Thanks again!!
