As a business owner myself, I truly appreciate great customer service and attention to detail, and Memorial Eye Institute exceeded my expectations. From the pre-op process to post-op care, the staff was incredibly friendly, professional, and thorough in guiding me every step of the way.
Everyone--from the front desk to the nurses and doctors--made sure I felt comfortable and well-informed about the procedure and recovery process. The level of care and professionalism was outstanding.
I highly recommend Memorial Eye Institute to anyone looking for exceptional eye care.
Dr. Michael Silvetti is the best! He is so knowledgeable and kind. I've already scheduled appointments for my family with him.
It's rare that you come across a medical professional/doctor who's personality shines as much as his knowledge. Dr. Silvetti is the real deal. I took my 9 year old son for his annual eye exam. His previous doctor is no longer with the practice, so I asked the appointment scheduler to pair me with who she thought was best with kids. So glad she made the right recommendation.
He immediately connected with my son and made me laugh. My 11 year old daughter liked him too. We are an African American family and felt so welcomed. I've been a long-time patient and this is my son's second time. All the doctors are good but Dr. Silvetti is special. He is a star!
Thanks Dr. Silvetti and Memorial Eye Institute for being the best at what you do!
I had an extremely unprofessional and frustrating experience at Memorial Eye Institute on Linglestown Road. I was brought back for my eye exam only to be told afterward that the doctor was running 1.5 to 2 hours behind. If that's the case, patients should not be taken back and made to wait without warning--especially when people have work and other obligations. I told them I had to be at work by 4:30.
When I asked why patients were still being brought back despite such a long delay, I requested a supervisor and was directed to Anna Mary. She claimed the delay was due to "one upset patient," which made no sense since everyone there was waiting well past their appointment time. It felt dishonest and dismissive.
Things escalated unnecessarily when I asked for her supervisor's phone number. Instead of providing it, she had the assistant office manager, Heather, call 911--simply because I asked for a number. I was not threatening, loud, or out of control. That response was completely inappropriate and unprofessional.
This office lacks transparency, respect for patients' time, and basic customer service skills. Calling the police on a patient for asking to speak to a higher-up is unacceptable. I would strongly recommend going elsewhere for eye care.
Dr. Kowalsky is excellent - I've been seeing him for years. Staff are wonderful. My only complaint is the kiosk checkin. Really, patients bring alot of money to this practice - it would seem more appreciative to have a human check us in at the front desk.
UPDATE 12.26.25: Needed an emergent appt the day after Christmas for eye & facial pain. Despite very limited staff, I was immediately offered appt within the hour. Dr Athar Shadmani performed a thorough exam and testing, providing an immediate diagnosis, explanation and care plan including prescriptions for problem resolution. Felt comfortable and impressed with her professionalism. Scribe Megan R. provided expert assistance, along with office staff. Well done Memorial Eye Institute! Would highly recommend their services!
My recent appt Oct 2025 was a good experience overall. Staff members were pleasant, friendly and attentive to my concerns from an appt a year ago where i reacted to drops typically used during a routine test. Alterations were made & i had no reaction this year! Dr. Stephanie Arlotti was excellent & detailed in her medical eye exam & took generous time to discuss all my concerns. I would recommend her services & that of Memorial Eye Institute!
In the past wait times were an issue but they said they've been working to correct the problem and certainly seem to have addressed it. Checked in and was called back within 5 minutes. Prepped and seen by my Doctor in short order. Very pleasant experience.
I recently visited Memorial Eye Institute to determine my eligibility for LASIK, and my experience was excellent from start to finish. Valarie was extremely knowledgeable and thorough in explaining the procedure, costs, and what to expect throughout the process. She ensured I felt informed, comfortable, and well taken care of at every step. I am very pleased with my LASIK experience and grateful for the exceptional care I received. Thank you to Valarie and the team at Memorial Eye Institute.
I had previously commented and given a 5 star review however after yesterday's visit I have chosen to retract that review. My husband and I are VERY unhappy with your optical center. Our very first time visiting the practice was deserving of 5 stars. The providers (doctors) at this place are deserving of 5 stars HOWEVER the optical center is in need of MAJOR overhaul. My husband looked at glasses at the conclusion of his visit and picked some glasses out. We were assisted by a guy named "Bishay" he seemed knowledgeable and took measurements and everything. He made a sticky note with measurements and other notes. We told him we had to return on 12/01/2025 to make payment. He said "no problem" just give me these papers so I can remind myself. So, fast forward to yesterday. I showed up to make payment. He couldn't find the frames my husband picked, said my husband had to return for a second time for measurements he forgot to take, and then proceeded to say he was off all last week and the girl he works with sold the frames. So, he said he could order in the frames again, call us, and the we could pay. For those of you who do not know they are selling you "used" frames that hundreds of other people have tried on. They sell the frames right off the shelf and send them out to be fitted with your perscription. He also offered my husband a veterans discount and then went back on his word.i called my husband on my cell phone he wanted to talk to my husband on speaker phone where anyone in the optical center or office could hear my husbands displeasure. And proceeded to tell my husband "it is what is is brother do you want the glasses or not". Knowing we weren't getting anywhere I asked for my husbands script and left. Needless to say we went to Costco in the same evening and he ordered glasses there and the cost was less than half of what this place was charging. We will continue using Dr Silvetti for exams but we will continue going to Costco for glasses and glasses maintenance. If there is an optical center manager you need to get new employees. Bishay is a complete con artist and the female I don't know her name doesn't look professional for her piercings and colored hair and messy appearance. I'm also perplexed other ppl who gave your practice good reviews were privy of a response. I got NOTHING so I've retracted my 5 stars and gave you a 1 star review.
