I previously purchased glasses from the West Mifflin branch and was very happy with the service, which is why I later took my wife and daughter to the Waterfront location. Their eye exams went smoothly, and the staff initially seemed helpful. I picked up their glasses at different times. My daughter's glasses were fine at first, but my wife's glasses were too wide, barely fit her face, and kept falling off.
Before I could bring my wife's glasses back for adjustment, the nose pad on my daughter's glasses fell off only a couple of months after purchase. We went to the Waterfront store on Saturday, February 21st. The store was crowded, and the woman at the front desk told us to wait about 30-40 minutes so the manager could assist us.
While waiting, the front desk associate tried to make a minor adjustment to my wife's glasses, but nothing changed. When I politely said, "It's still the same," she immediately had a strange attitude toward us. The entire interaction felt tense, and my daughter became so stressed that she asked me not to argue.
When the manager, Joi, came over, the attitude did not improve. There was no eye contact, no smile, and no welcoming tone. While adjusting the glasses, she repeatedly rolled her eyes and responded rudely to simple comments. When checking on my daughter's frame, she said they no longer carried it and called another location. During that process, she was aggressively hitting the keyboard, throwing the pen onto the desk, and showing clear frustration. The behavior was very uncomfortable to witness.
My daughter's titanium frame cost $199, and the nose pad fell off without any misuse. Instead of offering a reasonable solution, we were told we would need to purchase a new frame out-of-pocket. That was extremely disappointing.
This visit was a complete contrast to my earlier positive experience. I had planned to continue purchasing our glasses here, but after this experience at the Waterfront location, I'm seriously reconsidering. Customer service and professionalism make a big difference, and unfortunately, this visit was very upsetting.
I've been an Americas Best customer for 25 years - at various locations around Pittsburgh as I've moved around. The Waterfront location has the best customer service. I had an eye exam, purchased contacts, glasses, and sunglasses- partially with my eye insurance. Everyone I have interacted with was so helpful and friendly! I drive further to come to this specific location. 10/10 Highly recommend!
This is a fantastic America's Best. When I went in for an eye exam, everyone was incredibly nice and helpful from top to bottom. I just had to call in today for some help on an issue, and was helped very quickly and politely. Would absolutely recommend anyone to go to this America's Best, you will not be disappointed.
Just like any other glass place, except they advertise they are a better value. Once you try to change anything on your order the price of the glasses are the same as every other place. The staff was very nice. Eye doctor very professional. However in the end I went to save money. NO MONEY SAVED HERE.
I came in the store. I wanna say three days ago. The people was so rude bad understanding very rude. The woman at the front desk very rude with that squirrel looking hair , The WHITE LADY was trying to explain to me about the contacts, but I really wasn't understanding her so she went and got a BLACK LADY to explain to me. She was so damn rude. I said a curse word to her. She said BACK TO ME , I SAID THAT BECAUSE SHE WAS SO RUDE AND UGLY TO ME . Your STAFF was horrible.
I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I needed reading contacts, I was sold bifocals and the port in each one was different so they had to send them back and then I still couldn't use them when they came in the next time so after two weeks, I was able to get somebody to return them and then they sold me contacts but the contacts are for farsightedness and even though I only need the farsightedness a little bit I need the reading part of most and now they said, I need to reschedule and pay for another appointment in order to get reading contacts but now I have to wait till next year since they used all of my insurance for the appointment that I didn't even want so now I paid for contacts that I can't use and I still don't have what I needed.
This was my first time coming to an America's Best and it truly was the best experience! Vivian, Maggie, Dr. Scott, and Julia were all the kindest most helpful people and I am so grateful!!
Came into purchase contacts. I had already called ahead and asked in the had them in store. I was told yes they were in store. When I came to the store and asked to buy the contacts I was asked if I wanted to join the contact club for ten dollars. Then when I went check out it was 100$. The man who was checking me out, Antwan, yelled across the room to Julia to tell her that he got another contact club sign up so they must be doing some sort of contest where they get something in return which is fine. I'm all for that but not when you tell me something is gonna be $10 and then it's $100 before I swipe my card. He kept repeating someone should've told me this before, but he was actually the person who helped me the last time I was in the store and overcharged me by $50 and I had to come back and get refunded. Never giving this store another chance again I didn't end up leaving with my contacts either! He pushed a receipt and said they'll be coming. Throughout the whole process he said I don't have time for this. I'm trying to leave. And repeatedly asked his coworkers to help me.
