First time going here, i scheduled appt online the day of, was seen quickly by Dr siddiqui who was very nice and explained everything well. Jeffrey helped me with my purchases after and was also polite. I was in and out for contacts and glasses quickly, and at a great price for having no insurance.
This review is not about this location so much as it is about the company, America's Best! So this company and a lot of other glasses companies have this thing where they charge you extra to not have a glare in your new lenses. If you don't pay for the anti glare, at night you will see double lights, floating double lights everywhere. And if it's raining, forget it, it's like being on psychedelics. I have purchased work goggles and other glasses that were way cheaper that did not have this double glare effect. So essentially America's best is selling its customers defective lenses where you will see double lights floating at night time, and you have to pay them to get them corrected. They're saying that their standard is they sell people lenses where you will see double vision. That is their standard, I think it's awful and I think it's deceptive it's pretty much a scam. I hated my experience here. There really needs to be a class action lawsuit against this company for selling people defective lenses and charging them to get them corrected under the guise of paying for "anti-glare".
I saw Dr. Elizabeth Tonkey on August 13, 2025 as a cash patient, paying $95 for a DMV vision exam. The office did not have the equipment to perform the required visual field test, but Dr. Tonkey filled out and signed the form anyway.
The DMV rejected the form and revoked my license on August 22, 2025. I had to go to The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore on September 3, 2025, where I paid $436 for the proper testing.
The ophthalmologist told me that any first-year medical student could see that my field of vision is greater than 120deg, so Dr. Tonkey should have known the form was incorrect.
Despite repeated attempts, America's Best has refused to refund the $95 or accept responsibility. This was unethical, costly, and completely unprofessional. I strongly caution others against trusting this location for DMV or official vision testing. Corporate has been contacted and a formal complaint has been filed with the state.
I've been wearing contacts since I was 15 years old, I'm now 50. In all that time whatever my prescription for my glasses was, was the same for my contacts. I go to America's Best and nope one prescription for your glasses, and another for your contacts, and it's 2 different prices for your exams and then the cost of the glasses and contacts. Yeah way to screw over your customers. Me and the guy got into an argument because I want to order my contacts from 1800 Contacts. Oh well Jeffery I guess it's cutting into your profits bud. At this point I just want my money refunded and my order cancelled. Bunch of classless clowns.
Had a 12:30 appt on Saturday 9/13, for eye exam and glasses, all went well until I went to select my frames. An employee came over and stood next to the rack and didn't say anything at first. I looked at her with a frown as I didn't understand her purpose so she finally asked if I had been there before, then proceeded to read the signs. I said I had been there before, I've read the signs and I don't steal so can you give me some space so I can select my frames. Once I finished, I was going over to the guy at the front desk and he directed me to a table where the same woman was. She didn't offer any apology for making me feel uncomfortable or an explanation as to why she stood next to me. I've been there a few times and never had that experience. I asked for the tint circles so I could match my frames, once my order was in the computer, she printed out my script and receipt, got up and walked over to front desk. Didn't say we're all done, have a good day, no nothing. I had to ask her were we finished. I'm hoping my glasses are correct when I pick them up. Her customer service and mannerisms were lousy!
Really wish I read the reviews before coming here. Great optometrist but the customer service..... I walked in and the man was sleeping at the desk. A robot would have helped me more in here. Zero knowledge on customer service or help you at all when choosing glasses. Spend the extra go to warby Parker
Redika was amazing! She was patient, professional, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. She explained everything clearly, and really went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Great customer service--I highly recommend her!
Very rude manager, not nice to the worker that was helping me pick out my pair of glasses. She was super nice! The doctor was super nice!
He was rude and not professional to me. I guess maybe the girl was training? But not right for him to treat her that way.
Also entered with my service dog, which right when I walked in he gave me issues about, not being respectful and initially wouldn't let me just pick up my glasses that I had ordered!
I ignored his orders cause I know my rights and stayed in the building till I received my glasses that I payed for!
