I had a great experience at my appointment. The doctor and her assistant greeted me with a warm welcoming. Doctor had a lot of knowledge regarding my eye sight. Doctor's assistant help me pick out a nice pair of glasses looks great on me I received countless compliments. Had a great experience have no complaint I will definitely recommend friends and families to her. As a matter of fact I'm going back to get a second pair ,
Dr. Firmin is so nice and welcoming. I love coming to Optima. It's so refreshing being able to have a black female doctor as a black woman. She also was able to catch my keratoconus early on when the cornea specialist almost missed it. If you're not coming to Optima for Dr. Firmin you are truly missing out.
Dr. Firmin is one of the rudest individuals I have ever encountered in this field and what is sad is I was recommended to her by another practice who was also shocked by her behavior towards me.
First, upon entering I tried to explain to her that I was coming there due to my current optometrist not being able to process my new insurance and knowing her practice would/does accept it. I brought her some examples of frames I picked out previously asking if she had something similar as I liked the look of them on my face. She, with an attitude, sternly said "We Don't Carry Those Brands. What You See Here Is What We Got" when I clearly stated and asked if she could find something SIMILAR to the style amongst her inventory.
I even had to use de-escalation tactics with her because she clearly has no idea how to read a room in seeing no one was being hostile but herself. It worked; she went from calling me "Sir" to trying to crack a joke with me as if she didn't just yell a few seconds prior and tried to talk sternly as if I did not understand her when, in fact, she was not understanding me.
I eventually left and went back to my original optometrist to be alerted that she called them to say I was rude to her; which they didn't buy at all because, I have been seeing that optometrist longer than Dr. Firmin has been practicing.; and little did she know, I have no history of ever being disgruntled, rude, angry or disrespectful; all words she tried to convince them of such. Clearly, she was just trying to do damage control because she knew how unprofessional she acted. Who does that (Hahaha)?
Apparently, she's had multiple reports of being nasty to clients in the past that some people did not want to believe. But now we all know the rumors/reports are true.
She is clearly another one of those "(BLAnK) Girl Magic" types who is more obsessed bragging about her "accolades" than actually being effective at her job, especially in a positive manner. The only thing she could muster to tell me when she purposely wasn't trying to assist or understand, was how she was "The Owner" and "Knows everything including about insurance and how it works and what you can and can't do". But that's one thing you can always expect from people of her demographic, telling you how educated and "successful" they are.
The insurance part is also funny because, she clearly doesn't based off the situation and what was said but, I'll spare that part.
Alas, the issue that will forever plague the community; "Pillars of the Community" not understanding it doesn't matter how good your product is if your customer service is trash; which in turn results in people seeking out others who are not in/from the community for their services. Then, will turn around and blame the community for not supporting them.
She probably resonates very well with certain types of people. As for myself, someone who prioritizes respect of myself and others while also understanding it doesn't cost you anything to be nice, she is not my cup of tea.
I wouldn't recommend anyone similar to do business with her; clearly, I am not alone in that sentiment since her business always looks barren every time you walk in or drive-by.
I had an excellent experience at Optima Vision Center on Stenton Avenue. Dr. Firmin was not only knowledgeable and empathetic but also had a great sense of humor, which made the visit truly enjoyable. I felt completely at ease and left feeling motivated to take a more active role in my eye health. I'll definitely be returning for all of my vision care and eyewear needs. Thanks yall.
I recently went to Optima vision center where I was greeted with open arms. Doctor Firmin and Ms Brown were very professional and delivered best in class service.
Thank you for all that you do.
Dr. Firmin is the best eye doctor I've ever come across. Not only is she thorough, knowledgeable and smart, she's also funny and very down to earth too! That's a hard package to find :) she helped me figure out what was happening to my toddler's eyes too and fixed the problem. I am so happy I found her and I couldn't recommend her more highly.
I visited recently for my first eye exam in years. Masks required upon entry but no mention of vax requirements. The staff were kind and seemed to have a strong camaraderie between them. Dr. Firmin made me feel very comfortable as she examined my eyes and explained every part of the exam. Before my appointment, I was concerned about how insurance would be involved in helping me get my new glasses, but the staff showed me which glasses would be covered by insurance. The lobby also smelled pleasant like expensive perfume and gave the store a cute boutique kind of feel. I was able to pick up my glasses two weeks after my exam which was a lot quicker than I expected.
My only critique is that my appointment was for 11am, but I didn't get sent back to see Dr. Firmin until after 11:30am. I chose the earliest appointment available to me to avoid having to wait so long, but that was pointless. I just had to sit in the lobby and wait for someone to speak to me. No mention of why my appointment was delayed. Luckily, I didn't have anything else to do that day.
Overall, I enjoyed visting Optima Vision Center and will be choosing them for my next eye exam.
Dr. Firmin is a great doctor. She is very knowledgeable and efficient and thorough. She is very down-to-earth. She puts you at ease during your visit. I am comfortable and very confident to having her as my doctor.
