The Eye Institute - Salus University

This is a teaching institute for all conditions of the eyes. I have been coming here fir 2 years now and I am very happy with the eye care I receive here. They have an eyeglasses store on sight but I do not get my eyeware there so I have no comments about it. Expect a long thorough visit as a student will first check your eyes then your doctor will come in to confirm the students findings or not. The doctor will go over your diagnosis and discuss treatments if necessary. You will not find better and caring eye care than The Eye Institute.

I wouldn't go anywhere else. I absolutely love the professionalism, the detailed attention, and the overall atmosphere of the Eye Institute. My family have been patients for 30 years and will continue to come here for our eye care.

Professionalism is lacking at The Eye Institute on Godfrey Avenue in Philadelphia. I was left sitting in the patient waiting area for a little more than 45 minutes after being told that I would only be there for 15 minutes while waiting for my pupils to dialate. When I commented about it, I was told by the student doctor that she had to take another patient without notice to me or an apology for the extended wait. Had I been informed, I could have made myself a lot more comfortable by waiting outside (considering the fact that I previously commented on the uncomfortably cold temperature). Hopefully, the prescription will be good in spite of my not-so-great experience.

I would like to say Thank You to the wonderful optical team. They made my experience so easy with the exceptional selection service and quality glasses I got for my family. I will definitely be coming back with my family and I definitely won't be going ever to any other eyewear facilities as they made my family feel like their family. Once again they were truly professional and helped get my first new pair of glasses for my self. I really appreciate the professionalism their team really shows toward the customers. Had 2 occasions for Contact Lense Prescriptions and 2 wrong prescriptions!!!!! I couldn't see correctly with either prescriptions!!! Too many students doing the examinations! Very DISAPPOINTED!!! Never GOING BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The overall experience was wonderful....but you have a receptionist in the optical department who is rude, and not at all professional. I am sure this is not the first complaint regarding her.. she is too good at it and has gotten away with it too long. Another staff member apologized for her. What does that tell you? As soon as iobtain her name I will post it

The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. They gave me a very extensive exam. I had follow up appointments and was waited on in a timely manner. However, I used the optical store on site to purchase my glasses the staff were not professional the glasses broke 2 weeks after paying $250.00 for them. I would highly recommend the eye institute but not the optical store.

I came in during their Emergency Hours (before noon) and was handled with respect and care. They had no available appointments for two months but found a way to fit me in about an hour later. After a few hours of testing with students and doctors, they finally were able to determine what was wrong with me. As long as you are willing and able to deal with the delays caused by the nature of it being a learning hospital, you will ultimately receive good care. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I was there for 5.5 hours, did several tests multiple times, and when the students and lower level doctors couldn't figure it out I feel like they should have made a call to the higher ups sooner. What were they hoping to learn from doing the same test three times as opposed to two? I think good patient care requires a bit more communication and a bit more consideration in that regard. Beyond that, I highly recommend Salus and would certainly go back.
