VisionLink Provided me with much needed resources to help me adapt to increasing vision loss, which was impacting my safety and quality of life. I received orientation and mobility training, where I learned to use a white cane to navigate. I was anxious about using this tool because I have functional vision in one eye, but I have not had any falls since using my cane. I used to trip all of the time, and almost got hit by a car twice as a result, but now people are much more patient with me since I have a visible signal that I may need help. I also learned how to use technology in my phone which makes it so I can use my phone as a screen reader if needed. I am most grateful that I was welcomed into a warm, kind, and supportive community when I needed it most. It was incredibly helpful to make friends who had dealt with the same struggles and feelings of loss That I was coping with. I've made some dear friends, and I'm thankful for VisionLink!
