Wills Eye Emergency Room

Very quiet and calm atmosphere which I enjoyed very much. Didn't have to wait long the day I went since I went 12/31 when most people are busy doing other stuff. Was welcomed very politely by the lady on shift at the time with whom I had a short but pleasant conversation. Hopefully never have to go again being that this is an emergency room, but if I ever see myself in a situation and decide I have to go, I am grateful that a place like this is available. Very good experience once taken inside. I was clearly explained the drops they were applying to my eyes and what was coming next. Very knowledgeable people who seem to work very well together, seemed like a shift of family was at turn when I went. Nothing negative to say, except the parking close by is expensive, but nothing on the clinics part.

This is NOT a place for children nor the staff care for the safety of their children. As a healthcare worker, there are protocols the hospitals must take to ensure public safety while caring for inmates. No one could explain to me why was there a prisoner in the same small waiting area as my child and the general population. Not to mentioned the prisoner was NOT there for an eye emergency. YES they see and treat other emergencies not related to the eye - truly false advertisement - increasing your wait time. Four hours to be triage, pupil dilated only for the provider not to come back within the established time frame. Placed back in the waiting room where a homeless woman was spitting all over the place and security nor staff did NOTHING. Worst emergency department ever visited.

Yes the wait is long, yes the waiting room is uncomfortable, but we had the best nurse Grace. She was so kind and sweet and really did everything she could to make our visit comfortable. Dr Williamson was very thorough with his exam. They were a great team working together to get my father the treatment that he needed. I am grateful for the both of them :)

Seems like your experience here can be hit or miss. All I can talk about it my own, and I personally have no complaints. I ended up here after a bad fall that busted my eyelid, and I was honestly terrified. It looked so messed up that I was freaking out it was gonna be permanent. I went to another hospital at first, but they told me it was too complicated to fix and told me to come to Wills, and I'm so glad I did. The eye doctor (Dr. Bair) was awesome from the moment he came in. He quickly made me feel safe and cared for. He explained everything in a way that actually made sense and didn't make me feel rushed. I was scared about getting stitches that close to my eyeball but the doctor was patient and super gentle. He talked to me the whole time, calming me down and checking in, and honestly it was over before I knew it lol. The difference in how my eye looked before and after is wild. So happy and relieved how it turned out. Maybe I was lucky but it wasn't a long wait when I came. The care was legit. This is the place to go when other places don't have eye experts. Huge thanks to the doctor and the Wills team!

Wish I could give it six or more stars I got sent here from my local eye doctor and was taking great care of by every single person in there from the first person I spoke with to the very last that discharge me. And everyone inbetween. I was there for a little while, but felt that everything was thoroughly diagnosed and left there feeling much much better than I did walking in.

This place is FANTASTIC. I came in with terrible eye pain, light sensitivity. I feel 100% better. The treatment area has dim light so it helped, too. The eye exam was so thorough - the doctors and nurses were so helpful. I can't recommend this place enough. We are lucky to have an eye emergency room open 24 hours a day!!!

I can't even begin to explain how terrible this place is! I came with my mom because she had a foreign object in her eye causing a huge cut. We waited for over 2 hours just to get triaged! After that they dilated her eye and told her that they would do an eye exam, this took over 6 hours! It's already hard as it is to see your loved one in pain and struggling but the added lack of urgency from this place is disgusting! There needs to be better regulations and time management, and I hope the joint commission knows about this! Please trust the reviews and go to a regular ER! :(

My husband waited almost 9 hours in a waiting room wall to wall with people to be seen, just to be told he had what we already knew he had. Then the doctor prescribed 2 prescriptions, one of which was contraindicated with a condition he had. Since none of the phone numbers on the website actually connect you with the ER, I had to call through the doctor referral line to get the charge nurse. She told me that a doctor would call in another prescription, which never happened. I had been there in the past myself and with family, and had excellent care, I don't know what happened since, but I'll be taking my family elsewhere and telling anyone I know to do the same. Get more staff, get to patients faster, and provide better communication. We should have been in and out in 2 hours for what my husband has.
