The wait time is atrocious.
Time waiting in waiting room: 35 minutes
Time waiting in the room: 50 minutes
Total wait time: 1 hour 25 minutes
I arrived fifteen minutes early for my 10:30 appointment, as asked by the office. I then waited 35 minutes to be called into a room. The nurse gathered my details and did a few quick tests 10:50-10:55.
I then waited another 35 minutes alone in the room with no updates, at which point I found a nurse who informed me I was "next". The man across the hall then also went to check on the time because he too had been waiting ages. Guess who was seen first? The man.
The doctor FINALLY came in at 11:40 and spent a grand total of 5 minutes with me.
If you value your time and personal data, find another place to go. Wish I'd checked reviews before coming here.
I'm writing this while waiting for the eye doctor.
This is my second visit in a week, and both times I've waited over an hour to be seen. They did a contact fitting for single use contacts during my first visit. For whatever reason, I had to come back for biweekly contact fittings, despite the single use being the same prescription and fit as my biweekly.
Silly. Whatever.
Made an appointment for 3 pm for a "quick fitting." Got here at 2:45 pm. It's 4:10 pm. Now 4:11 pm. Each minute feels like a small lifetime. Maybe an eternity. I've been sitting here long enough to proofread, edit, and add random thoughts to this review several times over. I think id rather have impaired vision than have to sit another minute in this office.
The staff is wonderful (five stars), for the record.
However, if you value your time, go somewhere else. Stay far, far away. It would probably be worth it to drive to another state, honestly. I wish I had. I drove to New Jersey this morning, and it took me less time to get to the shore than to get fit for contacts. No exaggeration. Literally drove to the Jersey shore, put a wetsuit on, and was in the water faster than it's taking them to check to see if my contacts fit properly.
If I leave, I can't order my contacts, and I'll roam the earth blind. Does this technically make this a hostage situation?
The doctor came in at 4:29.
She saw me for maybe five minutes
As others have said the wait times here are ridiculous, this office clearly does not value the time of their patients. I went twice within a month, once for a regular eye exam and once to get dilated (since the first appointment took so long and I had to get back to work). Both times I waited about 45 minutes past my appointment time just to be called back, and then it was more waiting as I was shuffled around. Staff felt disorganized like they didn't know who was where or waiting for what. The waiting room is chaotic, they have a tv blasting plus music on in the background. Not ONE person apologized or even acknowledged the fact I'd been there for so long, I mentioned it to the doctor when she finally came in and she just blinked at me and carried on. Dr. McDermith was fine if a little brusque, she answered all my questions and was professional, but I won't be back to a place that runs its office this way.
I'd been going to For Eyes in center city for 10 years before they stopped taking my insurance and they're always super efficient and easy to deal with, if your insurance is covered go there instead.
This is the absolute worst eye doctors experience I've ever had in my 28 years of living on earth. This place needs to restructure something because outside of the amazing front desk lady (darkskin, glasses) this place is absolutely disrespectful towards its patients time and if I ask another person when will I be seen because I've been here since 10:30 am don't get snippy with me. It's unprofessional and just rude, I just want to know what's going on and I'm asking you nicely because everyone keeps walking past looking at me but nobody is checking up on me. Tall, darkskin, black male mid 30's - 40's was the one who got snippy with me over a simple "excuse me hello when will I be seen I've been here since 10:30am" that doesn't cause for a snappy response and please don't add base to your voice like I'm a kid. Beyond the waiting and being here since 10:30 am and all that comes with it just waiting that person totally made a bad visit worse. THE ONLY BRIGHT SIDE WAS THE AFRICAN AMERICAN DARKSKIN WOMEN WITH GLASSES AT THE FRONT SHE SHOULD BE LOOK TO AS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW TO DO CUSTOMER SERVICE BECAUSE THE ONES AFTER HER WITH WHOM I ENGAGED WITH DID NOT HAVE THEIR SKILLS IN ORDER.
What a great experience!
Kudos to Marlene and Linda at the front desk for working with me on an issue I had with insurance. They were kind and considerate. Marlene talked to the insurance company rep to try to resolve the issue. Linda helped me reschedule my appointment. Wills Eye Hospital is lucky to have employees like this, that go above and beyond. Thanks Linda and Marlene. Your kindness will not be forgotten!
The staff were amazing. Everyone was friendly except for the doctor. He didn't explain anything that he did and was extra rough. My eyes still hurt and it's been two days. I was disappointed
So I've had appointments with Dr. Harris in the past. He is a very good doctor. In recent years he informed me that cataracts were developing in both my eyes. Since I've worn corrective lenses for many, many years I hadn't really notice those subtle changes in my vision. Probably about 15 months or so after this diagnosis, I began to sense some questionable changes in my vision. I scheduled an appointment before my annual eye exam. Well one of my cataracts was "ripening" faster than expected so I was a suitable candidate for surgery. I honestly wanted to see better- - however, I was not exactly thrilled about having any surgery on my eyes, but I knew it was necessary. I've already stated that Walter Harris is a very good doctor, but his staff now took over the administrative part of my cataract journey. They were ALL professional and hard working. As I chatted with about three of the members of this staff, they all diligently worked to get me scheduled for what turned out to be a truly pleasant surgical experience. I wish I knew the names of the staff members that examined my eyes that day, but I must mention Nicole who was competent, resourceful, hard working and who certainly convinced me that she was dedicated to her craft and to getting her job done correctly and professionally (and with a suitable amount of understanding and compassion) even when she had to concede that everything that patients ask for...is not always possible. I would definitely recommend this facility as well as its staff for your cataract eye care!
After waiting two and a half hours for my appointment, with at least two more patients ahead of me, I ultimately decided to leave. While the staff was courteous and apologetic, the delay was unacceptable. I will be seeking care elsewhere in the future.
