I can't say enough about the positive experience that I had with Dr. Joel Brown for cataract surgery. He is very open to answer any questions, explained every detail of pre-op, surgery and post-op thoroughly and is so genuinely kind. The office staff are highly organized and the office appointments are very efficient. My experience at UPMC East was great with all of the pre/ recovery and surgical staff being kind and explaining what was going to happen during the procedures. Dr. Brown is absolutely the best!!

Dr. Brown is a gifted physician of the eyes. He is a good surgeon and in his office he takes care of each patient with a very personal touch. In this era of medicine where folks feel like they are often in an assembly line, Dr Brown has that old school way of practicing ophthalmology (with all the modern technology ) , much like my father who practiced Internal Medicine at West Penn for 37 years. Making each patient feel important and taking the time is of utmost importance. Yes, his office is very busy....and I'm sure at times it is making his day non stop, but in my eyes( that he is fixing) the day only ends when that last patient is properly taken care of. Thankyou Dr Joel Brown and your amazing long term office staff that further reflects the respect that people have for you.......Eddie Lowy

I was referred to Dr Joel Brown by a friend. I was looking to change Opthamogists for a while cause I wasn't happy with who I was seeing prior to Dr Brown. I cannot say enough about Dr Brown and his staff. Perfection, caring, compassionate, something my past dr and his staff lacked. I've never felt more at ease when I went to see Dr Brown from day 1 and every time I see him. I was in awe that Dr Brown treated me with such a welcome and a smile, and even a hello and a nice to meet you greeting, which I never got from my past dr or his staff. It goes to show you that there are caring drs out there you just have to find them. Thanks to my friend, I found my new Opthamologist and my search is now over, so over that my husband has followed me. I'd HIGHLY recommend Dr Brown to anyone that I know who is looking for a new Opthomologist.

Met Dr. Brown in May 2020. By July; he new I needed some reenforcement with my retinas before discussing cataract surgery to fix sight. On 12/30/2020 Dr. Brown did cataract surgery; and it was INSTANT relief and improved vision! Seriously amazing!!!

Dr. Brown helped with my daughter's ocular migraines including sending her to Presby emergency dept as they are the ones with on call Opthalmology. She lost her vision in her left eye briefly and is following her care.
