My experience this year is far less favorable than last year. The place has changed hands and its tough to even get anyone on the phone or a return call. I liked the previous Dr. as well as Jaylynn who is still an employee, shes only one day a week, I miss you Jay!

I was looking for a pear of clear cable temple. Tips for my vintage ray ban sunglasses. I could not find them anywhere. Carol at Oakland fashion optical. What above and beyond to find the ones that I needed. She did an excellent job replacin the cable temples. Add cleaning the frame she was very kind and friendly. It took 2 full months to get my glasses! My first appointment was the first week of February. I was told the glasses would be ready in a week's time, which was untrue. I had to call for updates, after being told I'd be notified of updates. I was not adequately kept in the loop of the process it took to get the new prescription in frames I'd already owned. There were new frames I'd also chosen, but did not pay for. I had visited several times, weekly, during the month of February and early March. During one visit, Carol asked if I wanted to pay for (officially order) the new frames. I opted not to, as I had yet to receive the ones I'd already paid out-of-pocket for. Carol gave me the excuse of them using a new supplier for lenses causing the delay. That's not my problem at all. As I was tired of continuously going there to not receive glasses I'd paid for upfront, I asked that they be mailed to me once I learned that to be an option . Carol left me a voicemail on 2/21 telling me she spilled something on the paper containing my address, which delayed my frames being mailed. When I did receive them in the beginning of March, the prescription was wrong and I had to go back in the office to get it adjusted again. I was not happy at all and shared this with Dr. Cole. Afterwards, David explained the lengthy process of cutting lenses, making them from scratch, etc. Had I been informed of this from the beginning, there wouldn't have been any problem or need for me to keep making pointless trips. The contact lens situation was also unpleasant. Separate appointments needed to be made for contact fitting and a demonstration of contact lens insertion/removal. I was not told of a charge for the appointment to be taught how to put contact lenses in. Because of this, David told me if I could get them in and out in less than an hour, I would not be charged for that appointment. I found that a bit unusual, but I managed. I finally received my new prescription in frames during the first week of April. I asked for my prescription so I can take it elsewhere to be filled. This place was recommended to me, but I will not be recommending it to anyone else, nor will I be returning.

The gentleman at the shop was incredibly kind, he helped fix the lens of my daughter's glasses as the screw fell off. My daughter wanted to pay him for the excellent service but he said it's on the house even though she bought her glasses from another shop. We really appreciate his help and highly recommend this shop!

I had a bad experience with the optometrist, who prescribed me the wrong contacts. Compared with other optometrists in the area, the eye exam was also expensive and time-consuming (I had to go for a first visit, then try the contacts he gave me for about a week, then go for a second time to get my final prescription). During the second visit, I mentioned to the doctor that I could not see well with the contacts he had prescribed me (which were also less powerful than the ones I had been wearing until then), but the doctor refused to adjust the prescription. Ultimately, I had to get another eye exam somewhere else and pay it out of pocket. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the shop was nice and everyone there was nice to me. If you are looking to buy a pair of glasses or other products, Oakland Fashion may be a very good choice, but if you need an optometrist, and especially if your vision plan only pays for one visit per year, I'd strongly recommend going somewhere else.

David (owner) and Shelby know their stuff. I've been going there for years knowing they'll hand me frames that I wouldn't have considered that end up being favorites! The selection is curated by David himself and they stock frames you won't find other places in town. They carry a wide range of styles and price points. I wear glasses every day and have since I was 11. Amazing glasses are so worth it. You'll love the glasses you find here

Carol was so helpful, kind, and welcoming to me! As someone foreign to the area, she helped me fix my glasses when my lens popped out of the frame! She was quick, professional, and so knowledgeable!
