If I could leave zero stars, I would. Not for the practice, but for Dr.Lewen himself. I'm not going to go into detail, but we ran into pretty significant issues with my eye after some vascular bleeding behind my eye and my retina detaching. He worked with me for another month or 6 weeks then told me he didn't know what to with me anymore and handed me off to his colleague. Which could not fix my issue as it was already too far advanced. So now, 13 years later I still suffer from his negligence. While I pray this is a one time thing and it seems like everyone has given very high ratings for him... which I'm glad (because that means it has not happened since), I feel like others should know there are risks, as i did not. I came in because of flashing in my left eye, and I was really impressed by the care I received. The doctor was very attentive and kept encouraging me throughout the procedure. He also spoke slowly and clearly on purpose, knowing that my English isn't very good, which made me feel much more comfortable. The whole department worked like one well-coordinated team--the technician who did the scans, the supporting doctors, everyone seemed to know exactly when and how to step in. Their efficiency and teamwork were truly impressive. I was amazed that they managed to complete the examination, scanning, and even the procedure all in the same day. Highly recommend this place!

Wonderful Dr. Caring and down to earth. Talks to you and not at you. Been a patient for several years and wouldn't even think about seeing anyone else.

Best Ophthalmologist in the area. Dr. Lewen sees me for preventive diabetic exams. On the few occasions when something came up he dealt with it professionally and courteously. Dr. Lewen does not run a patient factory. He takes time with every patient and makes sure their needs are met before moving on to others. I have never had any doctor I like as much as Dr. Lewen.

Today I took my neighbor to see Dr. Lewen at the Kittanning office. This office needs to be more more organized with visit times. She waited 2 hours in the waiting room before being seen by the physician. Unacceptable and rude

He is very kind and personable.
