A secretary verified my coverage when making the appointment. A month later, when I show up at my appointment, I am given some "switch", that my coverage only covers "medical appointments," but not "vision appointments." I have no idea what they are talking about. If this is not a scam, why would they tell me I'm covered when scheduling the appointment for an eye exam? And why would my coverage provider direct me to them specifically for an eye exam? They offered to give me the exam for $85 out of pocket, which seemed like a scam. No thanks, you make me wait a month for an appointment after verifying my coverage, then deny me service. This is being reported, and this office should be investigated for fraudulent activity.

I was in town from Virginia for a funeral. I had just purchased a new pair of glasses online, and was wearing them for the first time. They were too big and kept sliding off my face. The UPMC store was just a block away from my hotel. Out of desperation I stopped in and offered to pay for them to tighten and adjust my glasses, even though I had not purchased them there. The staff were so kind, they fixed them for free and I really appreciated it. From the bottom of my heart--Thank you!

Zero wait time and my Doctor was very patient, kind, explained everything in great detail and used very up-to-date equipment. As a diabetic this was all very important to me for my eye health. They have very reasonably priced "name brand" frames as well. I would have given 5 stars but the ancillary staff was not the best nor the most kind. It was like pulling teeth to get a conversation started as well as get recommendations on the frames I was choosing. On a positive note they do warrant their glasses if bought there.... free of charge. Which I did end up doing, both because of that reason and sheer convenience. Be prepared though to know what you are looking for frame wise or else you'll be there for hours looking at yourself in the mirror trying to figure out what looks and fits the best. I'd still recommend the place to anyone though. Many insurances accepted too. Convenient for those who don't drive as well.

I had not been to an eye doctor since I was little, and was very nervous due to blindness in my left eye from a birth defect. I got to my appointment and was immediately greeted by a super nice person at the front desk. The doctor and nurse who examined me were also very nice, and I got glasses without a super thick lens on my left eye (which I really did not want). The appointment also went way quicker than I was expecting. Overall, I am very happy with this office and didn't have to worry about anything that I was nervous about before the appointment

I am so happy with my experience at the shop at 3605 Forbes Avenue, on the Pitt campus. Not only was everyone there pleasant and professional, I got the first pair of progressive lenses I'm actually going to be able to use for reading. Past prescriptions have never gotten that part of the Rx quite right. Thank you so much. Customer for life.

I would not suggest going here. I recently had an eye ulcer that almost resulted in blindness therefore my condition is extremely sensitive and particular. I know it is also the fault of my ophthalmologist to refer me to a doctor who does not have experience with this condition. Most of the doctor's responses involved the words "yeah i don't know" and he asked me what i would like for him to do today...immediately I knew I was in the wrong hands. He was very young so not entirely his fault but i am disappointed i did not see someone who knew what they were doing. One of the employees "Fran" was extremely aggressive when i told her i purchased my eye glasses online and looked at my contact lenses for the prescription. I was unable to wear contacts and needed glasses immediately in order to return to work. This was clearly very upsetting to her. Front desk lady was also rude and i see in other reviews people have complained about this. Overall the biggest joke of a doctors office i have ever been to. No one seemed to have any idea what they were doing. The woman in the room with myself and "Fran" was very kind and i wish i remembered her name.

I had a follow up appointment at the retina specialist. I waited in the exam room for over two and a half hours. My eyes were dilated when I was brought to the room at 1pm. one assistant came in after an hour and said there were two people ahead of me. Another hour and a half went by before I found some one at the desk telling them I'd been waiting for 2 and half hours. Appt was at 1:15 doctor finally came in at me at 3:28.
