I had my first ever vision appointment this past week and it was overall a positive experience thanks to the staff here.
Shana was wonderful. She was so kind, patient, and thorough in explaining the tests and why they were being done. She made me feel comfortable and well-informed throughout the exam.
The supervisor, Chet, was FANTASTIC! He was friendly, funny, and incredibly helpful. He taught me how to put in the contacts without making me feel rushed or embarrassed. He patiently explained things multiple times without making me feel like I was bothering him. He made the experience feel so much more simple and manageable.
However, the optometrist, Dr. McKelvey, left a bit to be desired. He was very dry. I don't feel like he went out of his way to explain my diagnosis or walk me through anything. He, of course, asked if I had any questions but as a first-time patient (and now glasses/contact wearer), I didn't even know what questions needed to be asked. A little more guidance and education would've been appreciated.
That said, Chet and Shana made the experience enjoyable and I plan to come back because of them. They are what made this appointment a positive experience.

The male doctor there is a complete JERK. The front store staff offered me no help in contact fitting until I asked. As the employee assisted me, she kept talking to co-workers, not even focused on me. The female manager there is SO KIND- this is the only positive thing I can say.

Had such an amazing experience here!! I bought a pair of glasses at a different Visionworks and the screw fell out about 7 times in the span of a year; I had to keep going back to get them fixed. I went to the State College Visionworks today and was immediately greeted by Julie, she replaced my whole frame free of charge and did so in less than 20 minutes :). Would definitely come her again!!!

Do not schedule with them. They offer no flexibility with rescheduling. I rushed my way over there and after being a little late, I was told they had no availability to see me even though no one else was in the store at the time. The only availability they had was in another week. Disappointing. I would suggest Target Optical. They are in the same plaza and offer much better service. Walk in exams between 10-4:30 pm. Again, do not go to this Vision works. Just go to target or anywhere else.

Not a great experience at all, super far behind my appointment has now taken me an hour and a half, when scheduling online they stated they would check my insurance, when I got here it was not checked and I'm not covered.
