I am beyond LIVID about the incompetence, arrogance, and unprofessional behavior of Dr. Patel. This was my FIRST and LAST visit. I went to Dukes EyeCare about a month ago for a routine eye exam, to get new glasses and to monitor two spots in my eye (Choroidal Nevus). When I say that my experience there has been absolutely horrible, it is an understatement. After viewing the pictures that were taken of my eyes, Dr. Patel spoke with me and informed me that the Nevus was raised and she would be referring me to a specialist to "make sure that everything is okay". I took this as there being cause for concern with my pictures and the Nevus possibly being malignant. She stated that she would be sending the referral in "with the pictures" and that if the specialist felt as though there was nothing to be concerned about, that they would not schedule an appointment with me and that Dukes would follow up with me and let me know. I got a phone call from the specialist a few weeks ago to schedule my appointment for today. During my visit, I spoke with the assistants as well as the doctor. I asked a lot of questions and was surprised to find out that no pictures were ever sent with the referral. I told them what Dr. Patel had told me about sending me there to make sure that there was nothing to worry about and that I thought I was there to make sure I didn't have cancer in my eye and they told me that they can't diagnose that and that they were only contacted for a second opinion. The doctor said that he could look at the pictures they took today and see that there was no cause for concern. This visit cost me $370... I went to Dukes after leaving the specialist office today to pick up my glasses and asked them why I was told that I was being sent to a specialist to make sure everything was okay when it was just for a second opinion. The woman behind the desk (who was actually very nice and helpful) let me know that they only send people for second opinions with there consent (I was never told it was a second opinion, nor was I actually given an option. I was TOLD by Dr. Patel that she was putting in a referral). She also looked at the referral and confirmed that pictures were never attached to the referral even though there is a section in the referral to do so. Since she was not able to tell me why they were not sent, she went to the back and spoke with Dr. Patel and she came out and got me and took me to the room where they take the pictures at. She had the picture of my eye pulled up on the screen. Dr. Patel asked me what seemed to be the problem and I told her that I felt as though I wasted my time and money going to the specialist and she did not inform me of what she was actually doing. She said, "I sent you to the specialist for a second opinion because of this" and pointed at the Nevus in my eye. She said, "I can not help if the specialist did not look at the pictures before scheduling an appointment." I again mentioned that the pictures were never sent and that the woman at the front desk confirmed that they weren't sent. Dr. Patel said, "there is nothing I can do about this." I told her that I understood that she couldn't do anything about it at this point but wanted to know why the pictures weren't sent when she very specifically told me that they would be and why she sent me for a second opinion without informing me that that's what it was. She then asked, "Why did you come in? WHAT WERE YOU EXPECTING TO ACCOMPLISH BY COMING IN?" At this point, I was furious. She couldn't even put her ego aside to admit that she made a mistake and apologize for costing me so much money as well as my time. I got up and told her that I would no longer be a patient at the office and left. This is a lot, but I have never experienced such arrogance coming from someone claiming to be a medical professional.

Dr. Duke is very professional yet laid back so he's very easy to talk to and carry on a conversation with that has nothing to do with why your at his office. The staff is always so kind and do their absolute best to meet your needs. Dr. Duke is ALWAYS there when u need him. My husband had an issue and he gave my husband his personal number incase he was to have any more issues over the weekend he could call him and Dr Duke would take care of him. We need more doctors in general like him!

Attempted to create two new appointments for two days. First call I was placed on hold for 20 minutes and during that hold the phone line was picked up once by a live person who put me back on hold picked up again and I can hear the click that I was put back on hold and then sent to voicemail in which I left a voicemail to call me back so I can make appointments which I never received. Attempted to call the next day and was placed on hold and then someone answered and then hung up on me. Called again later that same day was placed on hold again until the phone re rang within the line mind you this is 15 mims into the hold call, a person picked up again I said, I'm just trying to make appointments. Finally I thought I was getting somewhere and she gave me a first available day and I said that's fine and then I was asked to stay on hold again and another 5 mins later I hung up. If that's how they treat new clients I can't imagine how you're treated on a normal basis. So I've taken my business elsewhere.

Dr was nice professional and caring. Staff not at all called to make appointment because I was out of contacts asked what it would cost and was told $120 plus contacts. Got there and after visit contacts are $150 each eye plus visit is $300. Would not have gone had they told me that.
