Aiken Ophthalmology and the Carolina Surgery Center

We had an excellent experience at this office. From the moment we walked in, the staff was friendly, efficient, and welcoming. The doctor was incredibly thorough and took the time to explain everything clearly. We left feeling well-informed and confident in the plan of care. We especially appreciated how patient and kind they were with our 9 year old son during his exam. Highly recommend!

I went to the North Augusta location. Mixed experience overall, with definite room for improvement--especially with the testing staff. I came in already feeling anxious after a rough few days, and the tone at check-in didn't help. The woman who checked me in wasn't very friendly, and when I turned in my new patient paperwork she said something like, "They'll be calling you back any minute because they were waiting on you," which immediately made me feel rushed. I will also acknowledge that I had my baby with me and my mom was there to help (and she carried more items than necessary), so I'm sure we looked like "a lot." That said, a little patience and a simple clarifying question would've gone a long way instead of the confusion/judgment I felt. On the positive side, Dr. Hamlin was kind and respectful, and the staff member who did my numbing drops was very sweet and funny. The front desk person who helped me check out was also kind. The biggest issue was the staff member who did most of the testing. I was nervous and struggling not to blink/keep my eyes open during some of the tests, and she became visibly aggravated. After that, her tone stayed harsh and made me feel stupid, and it was pretty obvious she was ready to be done with me. That part really affected the experience. I'm sharing this because the clinical care seems solid, but the patient experience depends heavily on staff communication and professionalism--especially when someone is anxious.

The North Augusta office is always a delight to visit. Appointments with Dr. Potter are always on time. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I feel the staff is well trained and ready to answer any questions I may have.

I was experiencing some worrisome eye problems and, after being dissatisfied with my previous ophthalmologist, asked my GP for a referral. He spoke very highly of Dr. Myles Potter, and I can now see why. Dr. Potter and his entire staff were friendly, professional, and reassuring. Every part of the exam was explained clearly, and Dr. Potter took the time to explain his diagnosis and what to expect from treatment. I never felt rushed and felt confident I was receiving excellent care. I highly recommend Dr. Potter to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate ophthalmologist.

Amazing staff and Doctor. This place is clean, professional, and friendly. My son is autistic and they are so kind and patient with him. Answer all my questions and took the time to meet with my other son to see if they would be able to take him on as a patient due to his age. I highly recommend this opthalmologist. Stephen Potter is my Opthalmologist.. Been my Dr for 4 years. Aiken Othamology in North Augusta is very professional and their staff is very delightful and friendly. Stephen has a very excellent memory of one of my previous visits when they didn't accept my insurance because of my crappy plan on the exchange. When my insurance finally got approved eyecare... I immediately went back to Aiken Othamology. These folks know what they are doing. I am happy with my latest visit on 01-02-26.

Excellent service. All the staff are friendly and professional. The wait time is also always minimal, both in the initial waiting room and when transferring to various testing rooms. Dr Potter is thorough, understanding any issues and explaining his findings and recommendations.
