Dr. Powell is fantastic. Take your prescription and leave. Go somewhere you'll be treated as a valued customer by professionals that know exactly what they're selling, who will answer questions and actually know the lenses, coatings, transitions etc. This place, you're just $$$$!!!
I never thought this place would treat there patience how they treated me, my mother, and my son. If there was a negative option I would put it. My mother made a appointment upon arrival she was told there is no appointment schedule for her that she would need to make another and it wasn't time for her to be seen, but if she wanted to be seen she would have to pay out of pocket because her insurance would not cover it. I was there and my son also. Hearing that I said ok I need to reschedule me and my son's appointment to. At the time we were supposed to be new patients. So we rescheduled. When she showed up to her appointment they told her once again it's not showing she made a appointment and she was a no call no show for the last. Not only was my mother done like that me and my son was treated with the same thing. I never got a call from them n my mother either. Each time a appointment was rescheduled we was told that we never rescheduled and our appointment that we did had we were a no call no show. We made sure the appointment dates were correct because we were giving appointment cards. Even showing them the appointment cards they said it's still not showing in the system. We were threatening by them saying if we don't leave they would call the police. We left and found a better place.
The eye exam was perfect but stopped there. I went to select glasses and was told to look around and feel free to try them on. She disappeared. My eyes are dilated and cannot see but told to look for glasses and how much my insurance would pay. I can barely see the glasses and there is no way to see the price of the frames. How much my insurance would pay was irrelevant at that point. You would think someone trying to sell glasses would offer assistance but not here. She didn't appear again until the ladies at checkout called her over for my paperwork. Get you exam here but do yourself a favor and go elsewhere if you want any assistance with selecting glasses. Only want your money.
Staff and my doctor were all very nice. Unfortunately, this office seems to lack honesty and professionalism. I went to the office on May 6 for an annual visit. Ordered contacts in a different brand & changed my mind a few days later. I was told the order could not be cancelled but they would accept the contacts I ordered and issue a refund once they received the contacts. Totally fine, my bad, I get it. May 23 rolls around & I get an email asking how my order was, but I haven't received it. I call and ask about the order. They tell me no order was ever placed, which is crazy because I have a charge to my account. Contrary to what they told me earlier, they now tell me I can cancel the order and get a refund. I ask if I can just change the brand to the brand I want. They tell me they don't work with that brand and I just need to cancel and get a refund. I cancel the order.
We're mid June now. I try ordering contacts through Warby Parker (don't do that either), they refuse to submit my prescription to them, & make me go in person to get my contact prescription for "HIPAA" even though I gave authorization on the website and over the phone but whatever. They now tell me they can order my brand. I decide I don't want to work with them and just want my prescription. I ask about my refund. The receptionist let me me know it should be in the mail like last week of June or first week of July and it was shipped the previous day. Cool.
I call sometime the second week of July to ask about it. They inform me it has not been shipped yet. After a heated exchange, I get a promise that it will be sent out the next day. I just received the check like last Wednesday.
So for those of you keeping score, (1) they lied about ordering my contacts, (2) they lied about being able to cancel the order, (3) they lied about being able to order my brand, and (4) they lied about mailing my refund check out on at least two occasions. Again, doctor and in-person staff were super nice, but they have a serious problem with candor and efficiency.
Dr. Penka and entire staff were so efficient! I was in and out in a very short period of time. They were understanding that I had forgotten the appointment. I'm really glad they called to remind me, and I was able to get there for my appointment in plenty of time and didn't have to reschedule!! Overall Great Experience
Don't use this business. I ordered a trial set of contacts for my son. For three weeks, they were forgotten and not ordered. They gave me one eye that was the right prescription and the wrong prescription for the other eye when they gave me a trial pair. It's been over a month and Still don't have the correct contact. With contacts prescriptions only lasting one year this was a waste of money. Only 10 1/2 months left on that prescription. Don't waste your money
The eye exam part of my visit was great, not a long wait, thorough exam. Getting new glasses was not so great, the young lady was not at all helpful with choosing a frame, the selection of in stock was low, if a frame had 3 color options they only had one available. Choosing eyewear that is flattering is impossible based on images from a computer screen. I chose frames that weren't my first choice based on the limited availability of what they offered in person and was told it would be 7-10 days. Its now been 5 weeks, still no glasses. I called at 3 weeks and was told there was a problem but it would be just a few days, I still have not heard back from them. I am very disappointed in their lack of customer service. If you wear glasses all the time you deserve customer service for something that is so important.
The lady I talked to was very nice and polite even though they cannot help me.
