Walterboro Eyecare Center: An Elevate Eyecare Location

I contemplated whether or not I should post what I am about to say. I won't have peace within me until I do. I am all for advocating for the elderly and disabled. Especially, when it comes to my dear, elderly mother. I get it; when it comes down to businesses practices and how each business operates and implements standard operational procedures as it relates to the billing of services. I do not live in Walterboro, but my brother does. He sees that she is well taken off. My best friend comes all the way from Orangeburg for her eye exams and glasses at WEC. I asked her earlier why she did not warn me? I called this morning to WEC to ask what occurred on yesterday. The said her insurance EyeMed through Humana only paid $100 toward the total cost of the frame she liked and chose. But $377 for a 75 year old woman? I would like for businesses such as WEC give an estimate cost based on insurance information prior to a patient's appointment. Then, a family can make an informed decision as to whether or not services ought to proceed. Additionally, if an insurance policy doesn't pay enough towards the cost of services; such as with some Medicare Advantage Plans and the person cannot make up the difference; such as the case with my mother, businesses should be able to write off that difference or have other programs to offset the cost of services. Her eyes are frail and dementia is trying to steal her away from our family. But, she's still here. So, I asking to take of our elderly and disabled population. Help them please. They took care of us, now, let's return the care and give back. My mom loves the frame she chose on yesterday. Is there anyway she can be helped? She loves what she chose. First time here. Liked the Dr. Liked the techs. When I was finished I was just going to buy new lenses mind you. 620 just for lenses and also informed I owed them 39 for a picture of my eye that wasn't included in the exam. Shouldn't somebody from the staff inform you that I would be owing that amount before they just assume that I could pay for that? Second, what they want just for lenses I could buy a whole pair of glasses for. Are they crazy? No wonder people don't want to shop or go to local Drs. They rip you off blind. What's a matter with you people? 620 dollars just for lenses, my goodness. Update: I purchased a full pair of glasses, frame lenses, progressive, transition, all for 350, thanks to Americas Best.

I accompanied my boyfriend to an appointment here today. Neither one of us had been here before. What a beautiful office with a warm and welcoming staff! My glasses were even adjusted without hesitation Thank you! Walter is a bonus! (If you know...you know)

Very professional and caring treatment from staff and especially the Optometrist. Thorough. Good visit

As always, Dr. Dubin is very diligent and pays attention to details. He made sure my new contacts were perfectly matched to my sight needs. So glad he is back in the saddle! Additionally, his staff is extremely friendly and always super helpful!

A welcoming environment. Dr. Sarah Mastrorocco and her team were very helpful to answering any questions I had, and helping me to understand what some of the issues I had meant. Also the picking out my new glasses afterwards were quick! & I am a picky person lol. I'm excited.

The service was great. I've never had an eye exam like this before. They took very good care of me. The ladies are very nice and give service with a smile always. My doctor was very theral and payed attention to what I said.

Dr Mastrorocco was very thorough and answered all my question. In my opinion I received a very detailed and accurate exam. The ladies out front were very nice and friendly. Would highly recommend them. Wonderful experience and service. Need to check it out. Thanks
