Dear [Vision Center Walmart ],
I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received at your Glasses
3035 Hamilton Church location on August 13, 2024, at around 11:30 AM.
After my eye exam, which was conducted efficiently and courteously by the doctor, I visited the glasses center to choose new frames. Unfortunately, my experience with the two ladies assisting in the glasses area was far from satisfactory. They were not welcoming, and their demeanor was quite unprofessional.
Specifically, when I began browsing the frames, one of the employees, an Asian woman with glasses, approached me in a manner that felt dismissive. She directed me to a cheaper section of frames without any request from me, implying an assumption about my preferences. She also handed me a basket in a curt manner, suggesting I place the frames in it rather than back on the shelf, which I found unnecessary and rude.
This experience left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome, which is not how any customer should feel when seeking to purchase eyewear. I believe this interaction reflects a need for better customer service training, as all customers deserve to be treated with kindness and respect regardless of which products they are interested in.
I hope you will take this feedback into consideration and address these concerns to ensure that future customers have a more positive experience.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
[Isabella Ali ]
March 28th went in to get my glasses done and the Arab lady there was not helpful and did minimal work towards getting me my glasses besides letting me and someone else know she closes in 30min rushing us out. She refused to pull my prescription and I called another walmart down the street and had them on the phone and they pulled it and I asked her in front of them why they can and she can't and she shrugged while putting on her jacket turned off the lights and was walking out by 645. The Vision Center supposed to close at 7.
I don't usually post, but I had to make sure that the 2 ladies that worked at the vision center at the Walmart in Antioch got the recognition they deserved. Katty and Mariam where fantastic. Going out of their way to find out my insurance provider and even speaking with the doctor who is not affiliated to retroactively apply my insurance to a past eye exam to save me a ton of money. Thank you Katty and Mariam.
As a suggestion, if you have any other option to perform your annual routine exam or any other exam, you may want to GO ELSEWHERE. Took my 60+ yo mother for an annual routine eye exam. Called ahead of time to check if they accepted coverage from Ascension Complete Medicare advantage. The front desk confirmed so, but it would have been appreciated and helpful to have some transparency ahead of time that there may be an extra retinal image exam charge surplus of $20. Just to be prepared. An annual routine exam is considered preventative care.
When we arrived, there was no greeting, only, "come this way", "sign this [form where there are options to fill out details about history]". When the eye pressure and retinal imaging was done, my mother was ushered to the next room without any indication of what happened next and told, "sit there." Dr. Collier already in room looking at the computer screen and without greeting, "English or Espanol" with her back turned to my mother. No eye contact. Reluctant body language with her back turned. Didn't allow much time (1-2 letters with each line) to verbalize any of the lettering Dr. Collier herself asked for and moved on to the next. She cut off my mother's responses midway.
At the end of visit, she informed about dry eye recommendations circled on a sheet of paper and about what OTC eyewear to choose for reading glasses as well as options for bifocals, eyelid surgery. At least she verbalized no need for immediate cataract surgery. At the end of the visit, she asked if we had any questions as she walked out of the door to the front desk. Front desk receptionist then asked for a $20 copay and when asked she sheepishly explained about the extra retinal exam done. Other than the front desk receptionist who showed somewhat of a glimpse of kindness, all we could see was awful bedside manner from both Dr. Collier and her assistant.
Of course, this is only a snapshot of our experience there. Who knows what else goes on in the office? As a human, Dr. Collier could have very well been having a bad day, and that is understandable however that does not excuse her and her assistant's behavior during our visit. Unfortunately, they did not have any good manners during our visit. If you are going to be in healthcare, kindness is the key.
This review reflecting one star is with reference to Dr. Wheeler ONLY, not Dr. Collier.
I have had trouble getting contacts in and out for some time. This particular day I called to see what time they closed and the receptionist said 5:30. I explained I wanted to come in and "practice" between 4:30 and 4:40 that same day. She said it wasn't a problem. I arrived at 4:35. Dr. Wheeler was standing beside the filing cabinet going through papers. I told the girl that I was the one who called about trying on my contacts. He said, "Oh, we are closing in about 10 minutes". I said that I just called and was told you close at 5:30. He said; "That is if I have appointments scheduled, and I don't". I couldn't believe my ears. Then he said "How long do you think you will be?" I told him I don't know, I need to practice. I was told as long as I was willing to leave when he did I could do it until then. He stayed next to the filing cabinet rifling through papers repeating over and over I just have to finish this paper work... For five full minutes I watched this go on. I then suggested "How about letting me begin?" He answered that my records were behind the receptionist in a low filing cabinet, tilting his head in that direction as he shuffled and shuffled. (I didn't see anything but him going through papers very fast. What paperwork?) I finally said, Would you mind reaching around her (she was on the phone) and finding my records? He reluctantly put his papers down, walked the whole four steps and looked though the cabinet unable to find me. He said, "The other doctor works here part time and doesn't follow our procedures, plus she's new. I have been here much longer than her and I know what to do". (Wow) So in he goes to the back office rummaging about making noises, maybe moving things around saying "She never puts things back where they belong, I never know where anything is when she has been here. She's just part time, I am full time." (Huh?) He not only likes to belittle his professional co worker in order to elevate himself, but I felt he really enjoyed listening to himself talk. And talk, and talk, essentially about the same thing over and over. Oh yes! After he found my chart, among her patients charts , he started to complain that NOW he couldn't find the correct contacts for me. Where did she put them? Maybe they had to be ordered again. All this while I am sitting in the waiting area and he is speaking much too loud so I can hear him. I am not deaf. I am loosing my good vision. I got up and said quietly to the sweet girl, I will come back when Dr Collier is here. As I am leaving and halfway out the door I hear him say, "Okay I found them you can come back now". It was 5 pm
Make your appointment only with Dr Collier. She is professional, personable, and will put you at ease.
I'm not sure what's wrong with these people here but there is a Walmart Supercenter complete with a well-equipped Vision Center inside. Update: optometrist hours changed due to COVID, pretty sure they work Tues/Sat now but call before you go up there unless you're just picking up. Glasses orders for example, you'll need a professional to measure dimensions. That said, the ladies that helped me pick out my frames & the kiddos' are always so sweet & patient and my orders always come in earlier than estimated. My fam has been using this place for 8 years+.
The eye doctor and assistant were fabulous! However, the associates in the front for eyewear were lazy and rude. I took my prescription and went elsewhere. If you can't be polite to me then you certainly don't deserve my money.
Worst experience EVER!! First I called at 9am to schedule my appointment so I knew I would be seen and back in time for work. As I'm walking in at 12:45 for my 1:00 appointment they call me to tell me that the other employee had booked it before she had time to enter me in. It's is now 1:58 and I still haven't been seen. I'm very upset and then while I'm sitting here waiting for the doctor, him and his assistant sit in the back room having a Lil powwow while I'm sitting here late to work. They are very rude and I'll never return to this location..... so I went back and while back there the doctor was very short with me and very rude and when I was getting up to leave he says, sorry for being a little short with you. "The other doctor never cleans up after herself so I came into a mess" #NotMyProblem #DoYourJob
