Dr. Sonkin repaired tears in my retina twice over 20 years. He was thorough in eye exams and cared about his patients. I hope he enjoys his retirement that is well deserved.

Where do I begin? Dr. Sonkin has been my physician for the past 25 years. I was referred to him when I suddenly realized that the central vision in my left was gone! I was in my 20s and devastated. Dr. Sonkin was comprehensive in evaluating my condition but even more importantly he took the time to make sure the scared twenty something young woman was o.k. and I really appreciated that. I have since been married & had 2 children (1 now in college). I see him every year and he and his office have been so patient with me and my schedule throughout the years. Whenever I have called with concerns, they quickly respond and will get me in to ensure the health of my eyes is never compromised. With every return visit I watch Dr. Sonkin run around and take care of all his patients in this extremely caring way. I am forever grateful to Dr. Sonkin and this office.

My new ophthalmologist had promptly referred me to the TN Retina clinic for treatment of Macular Degeneration. I was awaiting my first appt. when I awoke one morning to find my retina was hemorrhaging - an emergency that could destroy my vision. The clinic promptly accepted me at their emergency triage site where I had the good fortune of meeting Dr. Sonkin. He immediately diagnosed the problem, gave me an injection that stopped the bleeding, set up a quick follow up appt., and his calm, professional demeanor gave me much needed reassurance during this personal crisis. In my subsequent appts. with Dr. Sonkin, he has always given me his undivided attention and customized my treatment to meet my specific needs with excellent results. He listens well and truly seems dedicated to achieving the very best outcomes for his patients. You can depend on this man.

I was very happy to have Dr. Peter Sonkin take care of me over the last couple years. I was pleased with the repairs he did on my retina. He is friendly and explained things well. I want to wish him a great retirement.

Dr. Sonkin is the first doctor to capture my heart. In the consultation visit he was very polite, honest, caring, and understanding. Dr. Sonny has been my retina specialist for over a decade. During this time he has performed multiple procedures for both my eyes. He has an exceptional ability to perform tasks while also maintaining communication with patients during procedures. My husband and both see Dr. Sonkin and feel truly blessed to have him as our specialist. I had an optic neuritis scare in 2017 and even though he doesn't treat optic neuritis he talked to me in detail to calm my fears and within 2 hours he had me in with an optic neurologist. Then in 2024 my optometrist found a hole in my retina and sent me to Dr. Sonkin. Once again I was very scared and Dr. Sonkin without fail calmed me and explained the procedure in detail he needed to do. He performed a successful laser surgery and all is well. It is very obvious Dr. Sonkin is passionate about taking care of the patient and his education and knowledge is profound.

Dr Sonkin has taken remarkable care of me for six years. Went to him when I first started AMD, and it wasn't long before my left eye went from dry to wet. He brought it back to dry and since then there has been little significant change in them!
