Had a retina exam this morning. The team got me prepped and pics of my eye taken without any delay. Dr. Brigid Marshall performed my exam and did a great job of explaining the results. I appreciate the service and understanding.
For almost five years I'm a patient of Tennessee Retina. Clinic is nice, clean and accessible with an easy access to parking garage and easy walk cross the street. They allow you to check in online. What is a very convenient. Everyone is nice including nurses, technicians and doctor. But, what is the chronic issue all this years that appointments are not running on time. Do not plan anything else following your schedule. appointment at Tennessee Retina.
Terrible experience at Tennessee Retina. First of all, it's like a zoo in there. There are dozens and dozens of patients at all times. But the big problem is that they made me wait for 1.5 hours after the initial little check in just for imaging. A dozen patients came in, waited, had images taken, came back, waited, and were seen by the doctor AFTER I arrived waiting for imaging. I just walked about. If you want to be herded like cattle to multiple waiting rooms, then Tennessee Retina is the perfect place for you. I certainly won't be going back.
Dr O is thorough and from what we can tell, very knowledgable. But the office time is crazy. When I take my mom, I plan on being there 2 hours for a routine visit. The waiting room is a long wait.
I would give them 10 stars if I could. I was in from out of town and having very concerning eye pain after an optometrist exam. They were the only ophthalmologists I could find on a Saturday and they went out of their way to fit me in last minute and ease my mind that the exam had done no damage to my eye. They were efficient, patient, and extremely kind and I am so grateful!
This review is only about the dr I brought my brother to and not the staff. The staff there was so friendly and helpful but can't say that about Dr Busbee. My brother had a lens detachment from being hit in the eye with a broken coat hanger and couldn't see at all except for light. This Dr couldn't do surgery for a month due to a month long vacation and when he saw him after the vacation he had to put surgery off again for another 2 weeks due to another vacation and told him that he would take the broken lens out but wouldn't put back in and that he would have to see another Dr for that. He even laughed and said if he didn't like that my brother was welcome to try and find another doctor to do this surgery. He even told him he could drive and my brother told him I can't see and he said well just be careful and said the same thing about him going back to work. He runs a big press for metal roofing and that wouldn't be safe at all. He was fired after that. We did find another WONDERFUL Dr at Vanderbilt Eye Institute and they were able to do everything in one surgery. We couldn't have asked for better care. Beware of doctors that don't care about their patients and karma will come back on Dr Busbee and I hope he gets an uncaring Dr as he is to his patients
I cannot believe all the positive reviews of this place. :( I'm happy that others have not had my experiences.
I'm not saying they're bad surgeons, but they're definitely not the greatest. They're too damn big, and too damn busy to provide safe care. I'm living proof, sadly! The staff is hit or miss, sometimes they're fine, other times it feels like you're an inconvenience to them. I can count on one hand the number of times a scribe or a tech actually introduced themselves to me. I'm not saying we should be buds and hang out, but nobody wants to be treated like a widget, especially when you're dealing with life-altering eye injuries. If there was another practice, I would be RUNNING to it. Unfortunately, it seems like I'm stuck here. But I'm almost to the point where I will just deal with my wonky eye and forgo any more surgery (because "it might help, it might not, we don't really know..." Sorry, I know we're all pressed for time, but I need a bit more information than that. I know nothing is certain with the retina, but man, you're paid well for your work. I don't expect them to care about me as a person (that's medicine these days), but you'd think they'd care about their reputation.
I hope and pray another practice moves into the Nashville area.
We arrived early after driving 3hrs. I was took right in to start my visit. DR Thomas as great he talked & explained things so we could understand. All the staff was polite & very helpful. If you ever find yourself needing a retina dr I highly recommend Tennessee Retina.
