I had an appointment on March 5th with Dr.Finn. My app. started at 11;00 and I was to see Dr. Finn at 11:15. The first part of the exam went as scheduled and then I sat in the waiting room for almost one hour. I finally asked one of the nurses if she could check and see how much longer it would be and she said she would get me back in the next available room. After about 10 minutes I was called back into an exam room. My Husband was with me and when we entered the room it smelled very strongly of alcohol. I am a cancer patient and strong smells really bother me. We opened the door to let some air in when we did this DR Finn walked by and told us we had to close the door when we explained the situation she told us we could go back into the waiting room. I told her I had already been waiting an hour and she said, OH, one hour is pretty standard that she was very busy and had a lot of patients and she would get back to me when she could and she walked away. My Husband and I just looked at each other and walked out the door. I have been a Vanderbilt patient a long time and I have never been treated so condescendingly . I might go back to the eye institute, but I certainly will not see Dr.Finn, nor would I recommend her...

My whole experience with VEI was wonderful! After 2 other eye places would not do cataract surgery in their clinics because of my BMI and then took their time scheduling me in a hospital, Vandy did it! Dr. Sheih took the time to listen to me and explained everything to me. Her aftercare instructions are very detailed and explains what different things I experience might be. I do not agree with the negative reviews of Dr. Shieh. She was very compassionate and I have complete confidence in her abilities. Dr Fitz who did my surgery was also excellent!

Dr. Donahue performed Bilateral Strabismus surgery on my 7 yr old. Dr. Donahue is more than a rock star! He explained the surgery to my child at his level and of course my son was nervous about surgery but so excited to have his vision corrected. My child's results were perfection! I listened to Dr. Donahue and trusted his guidance and my son is enjoying a whole new world! Dr. Donahue is a blessing and I hope he will help inspire many students to become Pediatric Eye Surgeons! What a cool and amazing way to spend your life, ensuring the best quality of life through better vision We love you and thank you Dr. Donahue! May God bless you always.

I am disgusted by the incompetence at this faculty. Sending parents threatening letters and suggesting referrals to the Department of Health for "child neglect" after mistakenly missing ONE APPOINTMENT is not only cruel but so inappropriate. It's hard to actually believe that someone thought that this acceptable behavior. Oh. And the scheduling staff deserves a special mention for their exceptional rudeness and lack of emotional intelligence. They somehow manage to be both dismissive and painfully passive aggressive at the same time. The microaggressions sprinkled into the conversation make it clear that basic courtesy and empathy are foreign concepts here. It's almost impressive how a place meant to support families manages to make them feel unwelcome, belittled, and harassed. Let me just add, the doctors have been wonderful however, administration needs an attitude adjustment, QUICKLY.

I was recommended by 2 people to see Sean Donahue. I was told he was a genius, great doctor..and he very well may be but he has terrible bedside manner. My child has been seen by him twice, the second time he saw her - he didn't even look at her eyes! Communication with him comes off condescending. Pushed for surgery with no other alternatives and little explanation as to why. Gaslit me on what was said during our first visit with him. As a parent, I need a doctor that can communicate with me, explain things I don't understand, and make me feel secure with the decisions that are being made for my child. Sean Donahue wasn't that for me and if you get a "off" feeling after a visit with him, I would just ask for another doctor in the office like I did.

Dr. Donahue was wonderful. I had questions to ask but didn't have to ask them because he went over everything I needed to know in the visit before surgery. I went in for surgery and everyone was wonderful. Had one horizontal muscle in each eye to move and came out of surgery seeing wonderful. No double vision. I cried. First time in my life I got to see straight without my glasses or prisms. It's been 10 days now and eyes are still aligned great. Recovery was scratchy, itchy, and not easy but worth it all. Thank you so much Dr. Donahue and team. Kim coleman
