Thank you to Dr. Kasuga, Liz, and the rest of the team at Southwest Retina Consultants. I have been a patient of Dr. Kasuga for the past five years.I appreciate and am grateful for Dr. Kasuga's excellent care, as well as the positive outcomes for my eye conditions. He is caring and takes time to explain concerns and procedures. Additionally, Liz is supportive and compassionate.They make a great team. I have waited beyond my appointment time to see Dr. Kasuga...he is worth the wait. Thank you!

I can only mirror the other 5 star reviews. Dr. Kasuga and "his" staff members are amazing. No matter how busy ; Dr. Kasuga takes the time to speak to you as if you matter and not the next insurance card. There are very few people like him and his staff in the medical profession. They are truly sincere and genuine. It's my understanding that his staff follows him to each location. They (he and "his" staff) saw me on Wednesday and performed emergency surgery on Thursday and followed up in different office on Friday with same great staff members. Also its my understanding that they are one of the few if any specialists in the El Paso, Las Cruces area. They are busy and sometimes front desk or intake nurse leave a little to be desired but all things considered this is one first class operation with Dr. Kasuga and his staff.

I'm extremely disappointed with the front desk staff at Southwest Retina Consultants. For the entire year in 2025, I tried to schedule an appointment and repeatedly had to cancel because of the office's poor communication, misinformation, and lack of follow-through. The front desk team consistently showed a lack of empathy, knowledge, and basic common sense. At one point, I was being charged $575 for a basic visit and when I asked for resources due to not being able to pay, a staff member told me that they were the only specialist in El Paso for the services I needed and she could provide me contact information to an office in Albuquerque if I wanted, as if that were a reasonable alternative for a patient needing timely eye care. What makes this even more concerning is that at my last visit, the doctor emphasized how important it was for me to return immediately if I experienced any changes in my vision. I genuinely wonder if the doctors are aware of how inconsiderate and unprofessional their front desk staff is, and how many patients are being turned away, dismissed, or left without proper support because of the way the office is being run. Patients deserve better especially when dealing with something as serious as their eyesight. Here we are in 2026 my vision is declining fast and I am having the same issues all over again!

Every time I take my mom to her appointment, the copay keeps getting higher. On one occasion, the clerk wrote down "paid" on one of their business cards because she "didn't know how to print a receipt." Today's visit was the highest. When I asked the clerk, she was rude and told me that my mom still had a balance from her previous visit despite me paying for every single visit. I called the insurance company who told me that in fact they had sent a claim twice for the same visit. Very disingenuous accounting practices.

I was seen for blurred vision. My ophthalmologist recommended cataract surgery and sent me to Dr Samantha for another underlying condition prior to surgery. Dr. Samantha dissuaded me from cataract surgery stating he was highly sure it wouldn't work. He stated I would more than likely be wasting my time. I had the procedure done by an excellent surgeon and now have 20/20 vision with no blurriness whatsoever. I'm thankful I didn't listen to Dr Samantha. Don't dismiss your patients just because they have other underlying conditions. Leave the DNR mentality out of your practice and help your patients.

Cuthbertson has the bedside manner of a gremlin. But that, unfortunately, isn't the worst part of this business. Was forced to reschedule multiple appointments due to the billing dept saying only the co-pay would be do and the front office insisting we owed over $400 at time of service. Neither entity communicates with the other and none of them communicate with the doctors. Nothing like going in after 3 reschedules and having your doctor ask you why you didn't keep the original appointment. SWR would not be in business if there was anyone else in El Paso that did these eye injections. Social Security Disability application was denied because SRC failed to send them documents detailing the illness and services; their excuse? "Well there was no payment made for us to send the medical files." Avoid this place like the plague, a trip to ABQ would be better.

Brought my wife to see Dr Kusaga after checking in at the front office (#3800) she was told to go to #3433 but was not given directions on how to get there, we wandered around until I came across an office labeled private, I stepped in and asked where suite 3433 was and got a blank stare, then the girl said ah number 3400 and opened a door and said down that hall to the receptionist. Had I just turned to my right and went down the hall from the original receptionist we would have walked right into #3400. The receptionist at #3800 either need to supply a map or at least know how to give directions to the next office you have to visit.

I was never able to see a doctor after getting a referral. For three months trying to verify the referral never got a call back. Hung up after waiting in there Que. Message said I would get a call back. My Doctor sent me copy of what was sent to these doctors. Can't believe the doctors allow the office staff to represent them in this manner.
