Fredericksburg Eye Associates: Pluenneke Anne MD

I was referred to Dr. Pluenneke by my optometrist in fall of 2022 because he found a 'spot' on the iris of my left eye. She examined my eye and determined the spot was a probable melanoma. She told me frankly that she couldn't treat it but would find someone that could. She was like a dog with a bone! Within a few days, she called me back personally to refer me to a highly credentialed opthalmologist in Austin with the caveat that I would probably end up at MD Anderson. That's exactly what happened! I ended up with the world's leading surgeon for my condition. He implanted and later removed a radiation plaque to the eye. Follow ups continue, but the treatment seems to have been successful. So, Dr. Pluenneke was fundamental in saving my eye and, possibly, my life! I am grateful and regret not thanking her personally.
