This office could benefit from improvements in professionalism. My children had appointments today, and after the visit, we were billed $20 for the co-pay and another $20 for the prescription--totaling $80, which was somewhat burdensome. Additionally, I was informed of a $40 balance from last year, but it was unclear whether this was from a co-pay or another charge. Had it not been paid, we might not have received our prescriptions, as "Martha" indicated. From my understanding of healthcare procedures, co-pays are generally expected to be settled at the time of the visit. My concern is less about the amount and more about the perceived rudeness and the difficulties in processing the payments correctly. We arrived at 3:00 for a 3:30 appointment, ready to wait if needed, which was acceptable. However, we were not called until 5:33, and there was some confusion regarding a charge that had not been communicated to us previously. We feel it's important to clarify these matters to ensure transparency. We have decided to discontinue dealings with this office in our community. Dr. T, I encourage you to review your staff's procedures and consider hiring professionals who can uphold your practice's standards. As I mentioned before, I wish you all the best. Our relationship lasted about 5-6 years until we observed a decline in professionalism and accountability, which impacted our confidence in the office.
I'm sorry to say my experience was a very bad one. The front desk staff was friendly and prompt, but I waited a very long time to see Dr. Thach for being the first appointment (40 minutes). Her bedside manners were non-existent. While talking with me, she grabbed a liquid and tilted my head back without explaining what she was doing. I stopped her before putting it in my eye and asked what she was doing. She answered me like I was dumb and should have known what she was doing. She told me "I have to numb your eye" like that was obvious to me. I understand this is her job and she does this every day, but you have to warn your patient and talk them through what you're doing. That's not only polite, but it's an essential part of informed consent.
I also felt like she was pressuring me to get surgery without giving me a precise diagnosis. She tried to schedule me for surgery 2 days after my initial appointment with her. It almost felt like she was trying to fill a quota and not that she was trying to address my concerns . I got a second opinion elsewhere and was able to get an answer and was told I absolutely did NOT need surgery.
Modern Office, Old Time Values!
Look! I am not a "I like Doctors" person. I do not know why. I am just that way.
So having to go to an EYE DOCTOR is the last thing I want to do. But it is a YOU HAVE TOO situation.
So I did. Was I ever surprised.
*First, the phone was answered by an extremely nice voice, who was clear about everything I needed , where to go, EVERYTHING!
*Second, when I walked in I was immediately greeted by everyone behind the desk. All smiles, nods & EYE CONTACT!
*Third, I was taken back to very clean organized EYE MACHINE ROOM. I don't know what they are called but the assistants working me through them were kind, informative and helpful.
*Forth, time to see the EYE DOCTOR.
Well he was wonderful. So very gracious and answered all my questions and more. I also got to see the EYE DOCTOR that does the surgeries. She was also friendly and full of information making me feel very comfortable.
I have had one eye corrected and look forward to having next surgery. That statement in its self is AMAZING for me. Being an "I don't like Doctors"person and all.
*Guess I am gonna have to change my VIEW on that! REALLY!
All in all, this is one of the best offices I have ever been in. I am not an easy old lady either.
I RECOMMEND SHILOH EYE CARE! NICE STAFF. GREAT DOCTORS.
The staff working was very pleasant and helpful. I'm just wondering why they would schedule so many appointments back to back. I didn't see the doctor till one hour later from when I was actually scheduled.
Totally unprofessional, careless and impolite . While the dr is nice and tries his best here are problems that makes dr job useless.
1) technician mumbles, unclear low voice, instead of telling you to turn your head up , down , left or right , says turn your head , does not let you know what will happen , instead of saying follow me plz , says follow me in ordering manner.
2)The person in charge of ordering medication , orders it to a different pharmacy in different town , for 3 months period I only get one of two eye drops , after coming 3 times and getting charged every time , seating me on different machine doing same thing over and over with same result . came here for red eye only after 3 visits no improvement what i am paying for not known.
3) when calling the office trying to tell the dr they are not sending my medication , they get my message and after 3 hrs. no result again.
4) when i call to talk to attendance Miss Angelina in a very rude , abrupt manner says dr is busy. when I asked two times if they had send my medication , she never answers my question and says one of your old medication is sent to specialty pharmacy . Shouldn't some one call the patient and let them know after 5 days so that what happened last time does not happen again ? does any one care ? this is not grocery store for God sake , you are supposably providing care for most sensitive organ (eyes) .
It's a wonderful place. The doctors that are amazing you have questions. They respond your questions they make you feel like you part of the family. I love this place
Blonde/brown haired woman (Cindy I believe ) is very rude and unprofessional. I type this while leaving the parking lot. Wouldn't recommend, not helpful, annoyed your very existence, could care less at elaborating anything she says.
I'll elaborate here for you, I had an appointment and needed my medical ran to get how much it would be, she ignored her coworker asking for help. After an awkward wait she snatched the card typed it in and shoved it back saying a SSN was needed. Instead of letting me provide it she turned away and continued having a conversation with a friend that had stopped by to chat. (Yes a friend not a patient) I said I'd just go elsewhere after that and cancelled my appt, no point in begging to be a patient somewhere you're clearly not wanted.
Very unprofessional. My mother's procedure was scheduled 2 weeks prior and they called her 30 minutes before the procedure saying her insurance would not cover it and she needed to call the insurance to get it switched to a different plan. Then to get there and call insurance and they say they do cover the procedure. I asked to speak with a manager and the Doctor came out and was very rude and threatened to call the police because we were frustrated and I took off from work from my busy schedule to drive her because she would not be able to drive after. Then they tell her they would need to reschedule her. I do not recommend this place. It is very outdated and the staff need to be trained better and the doctor needs to learn manners. I work in health care and run a business and making sure your staff are properly trained it essential to running a successful business.
