Dr. La and his staff were amazing in helping my mother get low-vision glasses due to macular degeneration. They were kind, patient, and extremely knowledgeable! We are very grateful for the care and support from Dr. La and his wonderful team.

After being diagnosed with Macular Degeneration I was told it was only slight and staying steady until one day, when it wasn't. I couldn't read with my left eye alone and with both eyes I could read better but it was scary. I read for pleasure and work full-time in front of a computer and have to be able to read numbers as well as letters. My retinal specialist referred me to Dr. Bailey at the Low Vision Institute in Plano. I googled devices for people with failing vision and saw large magnifying sheets to put over a book and some other things that made me concerned that I would probably have to resort to something pretty challenging and limiting . So I didn't call... The retinal specialist asked me if I made an appt to see Dr. Bailey but I hadn't called her yet. After my initial denial, deciding it might provide something positive and realizing my vision wasn't improving, I called. Natalie called me right back and I got to meet Dr. Bailey! My visit to the Low Vision Institute was incredibly wonderful! I didn't know what to expect but within an hour or so, I had a prescription for glasses that would allow me to see my computer (mid-range) and read a book (close-range)! I then saw Michelle, who fitted me for new glasses and a week later I had them. It was a dramatic event to be able to work and read for pleasure and see things like I used to...when I could see perfectly! Dr. Bailey is decidedly one of the kindest, most compassionate people I have ever met. She took the time to explain to me how the use of prisms in the lenses facilitated my brain and both eyes to work together to restore my vision. She made a huge difference in the quality of my life and I will forever be grateful...and Michelle made sure the glasses worked exactly as they were meant to!!! I would encourage anyone with low vision to take the first step to improving your quality of life by booking an appt with Dr. Bailey. What she and her staff have done for me, is nothing short of a miracle...and to think I didn't have a clue anything like this existed let alone could make such a huge difference!!! Dr. Bailey is so patient and kind to those who have macular degeneration and other problems with their eyes. She has so many options to help people see better and maintain their independence.

After cataract and glaucoma surgery I needed a thorough eye exam and relief from dry eye. Dr. Bailey was my answer. She listened to my concerns, gave me an extensive eye exam and explained how autologous serum eye drops would give me relief. I got started on the new drops, picked out new frames for corrective lenses and all is well! Dr. Bailey and her competent staff have taken care of my needs.

Dr. Bailey and the entire staff at Low Vision are amazing! The Dr. is a terrific listener and accessed my individual needs within my parameters. She used her unique tools to guide my plan. She was very personable, caring and unhurried. Her staff offered multiple vision enhancing choices that were life altering! Excellence even extends to the friendly care of the front desk.
