Disappointing Customer Service Experience
I recently visited this optometry office as a walk-in, hoping to schedule an appointment. Unfortunately, the front desk experience left much to be desired.
When I inquired about same-day availability, I was told they could accommodate me the following day, which worked perfectly for my schedule. However, when I asked about the appointment process, the staff's demeanor became noticeably unwelcoming.
The initial representative responded curtly without any warmth or professionalism. When I asked for clarification on what information was needed, another staff member interjected rudely, essentially repeating what had already been said in an impatient tone. I had to ask multiple times for basic guidance on their booking process, which should have been straightforward.
As someone who understands that front desk staff represent the entire practice, I was disappointed by the lack of basic customer service skills. No smiles, no welcoming attitude, and an overall atmosphere that made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a valued potential patient.
While I did initially schedule the appointment, the poor first impression led me to seek services elsewhere. The follow-up call I received was equally unprofessional, with a tone suggesting I had somehow wronged them.
I hope management will invest in customer service training for their front desk team, as their clinical services may be excellent, but patients will never experience them if they're turned away by poor initial interactions.
Don't recommend this office to anyone. The lady at the front couldn't help us after they're who didn't give my daughter the correct prescription for her lenses. I came in this morning after getting her glasses fixed and she also refused to give my child a doctors note. The professionalism and way clients are treated is super ugly and not okay.
I just got a new job in Round Rock and every morning I kept seeing a sign for Eye Care. The last two years I've had eye exams and then when I got my glasses they weren't what I needed in strength. Or the frames were too big and fall down my face all day. I wanted to wear contacts but they would hurt all day and my eyes were dry and red. I had LASIK years ago so my distance was fair but my up close for reading I was buying cheap readers at CVS. I had my first appt with Dr Gemma Alger and she changed my life. She did a full exam and then she asked me a lot of questions. I didn't know there were contacts that you could see far away and up close at the same time. She looked at me like where have you been? No one has told you about these? I said never. She gave me some samples to try for a week. I came back today for a follow up...I saw her and hugged her for making my life so much better. The contacts are soft and don't dry my eyes and they are easy to get in and out. This is a doctor who loves what she doesI also want to say that the receptionist is bright and bubbly and took care of my prescription and ordered my contacts for me and should be mailed within 3 days! This is such an awesome, professional place! Go see them! They are wonderful!

I called to get a prescription refill for my daughter's contacts. She was in daily's and was going to go into monthly wear contacts. We just had an exam 3 months ago and when I called they said she had to go back in for a new exam and insurance would not cover it just so that we could switch from daily's to monthlies. When asked why this was as she has already been fitted for contacts in the last 3 months. She replied because the materials are different. I does not make any sense to me. They were non-compensating. Candy The front office girl gives terrible customer service. a complete rip-off trying to charge you for another exam when you just saw the doctor 3 months prior. When I asked candy why she would need another exam. She said cuz her vision may have changed. No that's not truth. It's because you guys are looking to rip people off. Her vision did not change in 3 months. There is no reason why she would have to go back in for an exam she just had. If vision changed every 3 months then insurance would cover eye exams every 3 months. It doesn't happen unless something acute or an injury occurs or an illness that would be changing someone's vision. As someone in the medical field. I know better than this and extremely disappointed and will not be returning. This place is a joke
I've been seeing Dr.Alger since before the pandemic, when she had a different office. Easy to schedule. Fair pricing. VERY clean office. I have always been serviced very quickly, not having to wait long in the waiting room. I feel safe and comfortable under Dr. Alger's care! Great "bedside" manner. Highly recommend!
Today was my second eye exam with Dr. Gemma Alger, OD, in the LaFrontera shopping center in Round Rock, TX. I was greeted by her pleasant receptionist/assistant and my exam began earlier than my scheduled time. I had no wait and received all of the tests and services that I expected with efficiency and professionalism from the doctor and her staff. I will definitely return. I had made an appointment but appointments are not required. I had a very pleasant experience and the charges were just right.
Being a welder, Gema did a metal extraction on me and a buddy who had referred me to her after his extraction. She's great. I haven't been to an eye Dr in a while after getting Lasik but she is very detailed about her work and I have been sending my family there now. Top notch from all my experiences!
I had to bring my father in today, on a Saturday afternoon, for an urgent visit. I was so impressed by the care and concern of Jocelyn, the front desk person, and by the care and attention Dr. Gemma gave my father. Definitely recommend this office!
