I recently went to Eric Mercer Optometrist for contact lenses and was genuinely impressed. The eye exam and fitting with Eric were proper old-school ... detailed, careful and refreshingly thorough in a way that suggests someone is actually paying attention. Having recently wandered away from the big chains, I now realise just how many corners they were cutting. This was a completely different level of care. Everything ran smoothly, appointments were fast without ever feeling rushed, and everyone I dealt with was an absolute delight. Highly recommended.

Eric was amazing and a true professional. I booked a very last minute appointment through the online booking system as I had suffered a severe migraine. Eric checked everything with me and gave sound advice, but most importantly, was very reassuring and gracious with me. I will definitely make this appointment an annual event and I won't go anywhere else as I was made to feel very welcome and at ease.

I recently had my first appointment at Eric Mercer opticians. I have been to many other opticians over the years but found Eric to be extremely thorough and in a lovely friendly environment. Eric spent a lot on time on ensuring that I got the best possible result in new glasses and contact lenses which I feel have benefited my sight. The optician , Mr Mercer, gave me a very thorough eye test . The test lasted 40 minutes which was a lot longer than I could get in one of the optician chains. Mr Mercer was polite and professional . I did not need new glasses and there was no pressure to buy a new pair . Overall a very satisfactory experience .

Our daughter had and extremely sore swollen eye with not visible signs of infection other than the pinkness. Concerned we to her to Mercer's where she was pretty much immediately seen by Eric who proceeded to do a full examination and tests. He concluded that is may be a particular nasty type of infection but wanted to rule nothing out so gave us an immediate referral to city hospital. She was seen later that day and thankfully due to Eric's thorough and quick response my daughter received the care she needed

Can't recommend highly enough, I was seen straightaway as part of their emergency eye clinic (despite not being a patient there) as I was experiencing blurred vision and a large floater in my eye. After my own opticians seemed to be quite dismissive of my concerns Mr Mercer carried out a througher examination and referred me to the RVH Eye Causality. He took time to explain what was happening and helped to reassure me, he then phoned the RVH who saw me the next day. Fantastic service and a case where a small local business is head and shoulders over the big chains.
