I went for my routine 2 year checkup yesterday and was treated very well indeed, I was always treated with friendliness, kindness and respect. I was not pressurised into unnecessary tests or new glasses as my sight hasn't changed very much!! I was in and out really quickly and actually enjoyed my visit!

I received excellent service during my recent visit. As I am 62 years of age, I recognised the need for an eye examination since I was beginning to squint when reading a newspaper. I booked the appointment online in advance. On the day of the appointment, I was warmly welcomed by the staff. I was treated with respect, especially given that this was my first eye test. I was kindly guided through the examination process and informed that I would require corrective reading glasses. The optician carefully conveyed this information to me. I was subsequently presented with a selection of frames from which I was able to select my preferred option. Two weeks later, I returned to the store to collect my glasses. Once again, I was greeted with a friendly and professional welcome. I received my glasses from a courteous assistant who kindly adjusted the frames to ensure a comfortable fit. Additionally, I was offered a personalised glasses case in my chosen colour. I have been very satisfied with the level of service provided by Specsavers.

Absolutely fantastic service today from all of the staff but particularly the optometrist Niamh. She was so patient helpful and informative and fully answered all of my questions to a high standard. She fully explained my eye health scan results, answered my laser eye surgery and contact lens questions and made me feel valued rather than another number. Thank you!

The vibe felt a bit off. The staff were very welcoming. But all the staff seemed to be brand new. I was wrongly charged for my appointment. When I should of been free on a scheme. Thankfully it was refund. I can't afford to spend much on glasses. The budget section of glasses isn't great.

Couldn't be happier with the service I received at the Newcastle store. Optician and assistants were amazing, explained my issues to me perfectly and clearly then were super helpful in picking a frame that suited my face shape. Cannot fault the service at all

The eye test itself was good and I received my prescription without any issues.
What disappointed me was what happened afterwards. When I asked for my pupillary distance, as I was considering buying glasses elsewhere, I was told it would only be measured if I purchased frames through them. I was also told it depends on the frame, but for some reason no one clearly explained that a standard distance PD can be provided separately.
What surprised me most was being told that even if I did go ahead and buy frames from them, they would not actually give me my PD measurement, it would just be stored in their system. That made it feel pointless to even ask.
The whole interaction felt more focused on making a sale than on actually helping me. When I asked follow up questions, I was met with sighing and shrugging rather than clear answers, which made the experience feel dismissive.
I would not recommend Specsavers if you are planning to purchase glasses elsewhere or want full access to your measurements.

I was incorrectly told by a lady upstairs that Id have to pay PS70 to repair the within warranty scratched lenses I had receieved from them. Everyone makes mistakes and this was very quickly fixed by the complaints team/shop manager in a friendly professional way, but the condescending and combative way the initial person spoke to me has affected the positive relationship I had with this branch. I must say however, every other person I dealt with was great.
