I attended an appointment at 0915 on 27 February 2026. The Ophthalmic Technician who did the test was fantastic. Polite, professional and explained everything in detail. I then saw the Optician who was brilliant. He gave detailed and clear answers to my questions, explained everything about my results, prescription and what was next. I have always visited SpecSavers but decided to try Marks and Spencers and I will be coming here for all future appointments. Outstanding service.
Having used other suppliers for glasses over many years, with varying standards of service and quality.
I was walking past M&S in Plymouth when asked by Amanda if I had thought of M&S?
After a pleasant, detailed conversation booked in, as I was due an eye test anyway.
I was pleasantly surprised with the reminder messages, prior to the appointment.
On arrival it was very clear that this was not going to be the normal, "get them in and move them through and out", which was my previous experiences.
I was greeted and introduced to Emma by Kara, who explained that she would be going through the pre tests. We completed a questionnaire which gave the information needed to give a personalised tests.
Then on to the eye tests with Inna.
The bonus here, OCT tests are included as standard.
Very comprehensive explanation about the tests and options.
Next, back to Emma, choosing glasses, sizing adding personalised extras, ordering
Etc.
All in all if you want a superb service with reasonable prices, go to your local M&S.

Until I started wearing these new M&S hearing aids, I had not realised just how isolating my deafness was affecting me. I had to apologise countless times during the course of the day to all approaches at making conversation with me, because I just couldn't hear! I'm amazed at difference my new aids are making to my day!
The audiologist, Marie at M&S Plymouth was and continues to be extremely helpful and kind. These M&S hearing aids are smaller, more comfortable and much more effective than my previous nhs pair.
I was impressed and reassured that I was invited to choose the aids that best suited my needs, as opposed to choosing the more expensive. The tests were thorough, and carried out with the utmost patience and care. All guidelines and instructions from Marie, were to the point and easy to understand. Looking at my experience with these new M&S aids so far from the social aspect, doors have been re-opened to me that have been closed for many years.
Overall, the help I received from Marie at M&S was exceptional, friendly and companionable. Taking into consideration my lack of understanding with today's technology.
I know longer need the subtitles on my tv!
As always an amazing service from M & S opticians in Plymouth.
Professional, efficient and friendly.
Good choices of frames at comparable prices.
Unlike other highstreet opticians, I felt that I was treated like a person not a number.
M&S is my No1 store for shopping. It may be a bit more expensive, but the quality of everything they sell is better, as is the customer service. So it was quite natural for me to switch to M&S Optician ... No regrets.
And I have recommended the Plymouth branch to a number of my friends (At least one has taken it up).
This time I wanted to change the thickness of the lenses (my mistake!), they changed the lenses without a quibble, only charging me the difference. Service is what you pay for!
A shout-out for Dionne, Matilda, Kara, Inna ... my optician friends who even wave to me when I am passing :-)

Me and my partner had a walk-in session yesterday, and were met with the kindest most helpful staff ever. It was my first ever eye test and I had expressed how nervous I was, we first met with Jade, a very calming and funny individual who explained what the whole process would be, and took us through the first portion of the eye exam ( machine scans ) she answered every silly question I had and made me feel very at home, and after the second portion of my exam when it was revealed I needed glasses she explained the results to me once again. Thank you so much Jade you are awesome and you have the coolest nails!!!
For the second portion of the exam we were introduced to the wonderful optician Inna, she again was a very funny and calming presence, she asked lots of questions and explained everything clearly, and was able to cross relate symptoms like migraines with our eyes that ultimately lead to a prescription for me and eye drops for my partner. Thank you again inna you too are awesome!!!!!
Overall we couldn't recommend m&s opticians in Plymouth enough, it was very easy to organise ( same day appointment) The staff are incredible and super nice, whilst also being very thorough and knowledgable ( and just super lovely to chat too ) Thank you soooo much again ladies!!! Xxxxx
I hope you find this review and do a lil smile :))))
It's difficult to get excited about getting new glasses so I didn't try. However, Kara and Eve raised my enthusiasm level with their professionalism and manner. Any residual ice was well and truly broken at the discovery that we'd all played semiprofessional Tiddlywinks at county level. It transpires that Eve has winked with the best and Kara was nearly picked for the GB squad after thumping the notorious Teignmouth Tiddlers captain, Marjorie Backdoors in just 3 sets. That "shovel-wink" technique really is something else!
In other news, they did some tests, it was fun, going back in a week or two to collect some new bins.
My partner and I had our eye tests today, and Jade, Eve, and Kara were incredibly friendly. We felt comfortable and welcomed from the get-go. The whole process was smooth and clearly explained to us right through to the end. Thank you, ladies!
