Optical Express Southampton Eye Hospital

I had my lens replacement surgery and my astigmatism corrected on 7th January. The process on the day took probably three hours which included all pre-tests, confirmations, surgery, and post op care. The actual surgery itself took about 15 minutes for my right eye, and 25 minutes for my left eye. I was able to see clearly the next day and was tested and achieved 20/20 vision. My final post op appointment was on 3rd February and again my vision was tested at 20/20. The team who looked after me from my initial "what can you do for me?" to my final discharge on 3rd Feb were Anita, Priya, and surgeon Tahmina were friendly and professional at all times. This surgery has hoestly been life changing for me after having worn glasses and lenses for over 50 years I am still amazed every day at the results, and what a change it has made. I can honestly recommend Optical Express whole heartedly.

I have had to reduce my star rating to one, I would give zero if I could . Thankfully yesterday I had my 10 day review in person in Salisbury with Troy ( excellent professional) thankfully because he was able to tell me I do not have the lens in my left eye I 1) stated I wanted I.e as perfect long term vision possible, I don't mind wearing reading glasses. I stated this to each person I met pre surgery and at the clinic and 2) it is not the lens I was led to believe I would receive. I have both poor long distance vision and I am unable to read. I observed so much poor practice during my three hours in this clinic but this beats it all. Please do not let this shoddy outfit mess with your precious sight. The members of staff who show best practice in their work are excellent. Sandra who first tested my eyes, optometrist whose name I didn't catch ( sorry), Sandra the pre-op nurse, Nigel who assisted with first eye ,Priya the optometrist I saw at my follow up appointment and Michelle who made me a further appointment. All explained what they were doing and why--- exactly what medical staff are supposed to do. The staff who demonstrated poor practice were a huge disappointment-- the surgeon who was abrupt to the point of rudeness, disappeared between eyes and no one seemed to know why, hurt my face and ignored me when I mentioned something was digging into the side of my nose, the person who ripped off the taped face covering without warning and the two nurses who talked over me in a language other than English while I could see nothing. All these practices fall far below "best practice" which ALL medical staff should follow. Some serious staff retraining is needed before their standards decline further. Sadly I cannot recommend this clinic, I just wanted to get out and hope never to return. I can only hope my eyesight will become normal with time.

Fantastic from start to finish. Olly was amazing at my opening meeting, he was really friendly and helpful with any questions, Priya was great, she gave me my options and how much it all was and the features and benefits for different lenses. I had double lens replacements and still can't believe how quick and easy the process is and that I never need to wear glasses again. Every member of staff at Optical Express in Southampton is lovely, so helpful, they can't do enough to make you feel really at ease and comfortable at all times. My surgeon was Mr Venkata Avadanham, I had a video call with him a couple of days before the op, he made sure I was comfortable with everything and answered any questions. The operation was really quick and you don't feel any pain, just little flashes and then within an hour it's done and you're home, immediately and for a day or so afterwards you're really light sensitive but that does wear off. You take drops for a few weeks and straight away after the op you don't need your glasses anymore. Honestly it's incredible and worth every penny. For anyone considering this op, go for it, you won't regret it.

Feeling extremely let down from the after-care and communication involved after the lens replacement procedure. The level of communication disappeared rapidly after the surgery. At each check up I expressed my concerns as my vision had issues almost immediately after the operation was carried out, to which i was told it was not an issue and to give it time. This carried on conveniently until the three month after care period ran out but I was reasured I was going to have a correction procedure to fix the vision distortion the previous surgery had left me with. However when trying to book for said procedure I was met with a brick wall of three months has surpassed as a response leaving me extremely concerned and depressed. I am still awaiting a response and hoping for a civil outcome but unfortunately I could not in all good faith recommend this procedure with Optical express southampton and am currently wishing I listened to the negative comments all saying their treatment was just as upsetting.

Today I had my 1 month post operative final check up. The appointment was easily made with clear communication. I was reviewed by Kimberley. She guided me through the questions and showed empathy, was professional yet also demonstrated humour and reassurance throughout her consultation. I then had some further checks with Oscar who I saw previously for my pre operative checks. His consultation was very thorough and again vey professional. He also demonstrated empathy and provided me with reassurance that my procedure had gone well and was progressing most satisfactorily. Thank you to the whole team at Optical Express, Southampton. You have all provided me with excellent patient care and guided me through the whole lens replacement procedure. Well done. This is definitely the best health interventions I have ever made.

Day of surgery replacement lens both eyes. All the staff were brilliant. Worked well and complimented each other. Firstly everything was checked, checked and checked again. I had several Drops in my eyes and 1 and 2 marked on my forehead. I was having a long site Lens in my dominant eye and near site and reading in my left eye. This was the best plan to meet my needs. I was taken upstairs and Tom and his assistant checked and checked again. Put a wrist band on me and more drops in my eyes. I was taken into Theatres and Igor Occhipitini was my surgeon. It only took about 1 minutes for both eyes to be complete. Great care was taken to protect from cross contamination as both eyes done. I had no discomfort at all. I was taken t the discharge room where the aftercare was demonstrated to me. I was given drops and all the instructions on a sheet to refer to. I came home with eye protectors and drops. After about 10 hours I could see clearly. I went for a check up day after surgery. Have 20/20 vision. I can see distance and reading both clearly and was passed to drive. St this stage I have a phone call a week after and recal in a months time. It was worth every penny. No discomfort, brilliant sight and no glasses I am truly thrilled with the expertise and quality replacement lens. Thank you all at OpticalExpress Southampton

I had an exceptional experience being treated for LASIK surgery in OE and I would highly recommend it to everyone who has been contemplating whether to get it done. The actual surgery itself only lasted around 15 minutes and it went so smoothly - thank you to Dr.Sajjad and the surgical team in MK for doing such an incredible job. My vision is better than 20/20 now, which is way beyond my expectations - a special thanks to my optometrist Priya for helping me take this step.

Yesterday I had my 1st consultation at the southampton branch. This was lead by Michelle. I have found the whole experience so far very professional and I am looking forward to progressing with lens replacement in the near future
