What really impressed me about this location was the two ladies that helped me with my contacts and glasses. I have been wearing glasses for over two decades and I have never had anyone do such a great job! My son is very young and got prescribed glasses for the first time when I came in. They spent the time to make him feel confident in his lenses and help him pick out one that fit great. When we came back to pick up our lenses they were very detailed in helping make sure they fit just right. Amie even replaced the nose pads and adjusted the frames until they fit just for me. You could really tell they had a lot of experience and were very professional. I would definitely recommend 10/10. They will even remember you by your name when you come back!
This is another one of those "if I could give them a zero I would" reviews.
I saw Dr. Simmons in August. My kids have seen him before. And we haven't had problems. But this year was awful.
He rushed through my prescription, and I felt like my eyes were still blurry. But he was confident in the prescription. I was also being fitted for contacts for the first time in 25 years.
I wore the first set of contacts for a day, but had a terrible headache, and I went back in and they adjusted the prescription in my left eye. It was way off.
He then did some "mental math" and redid a prescription for my glasses at the same time, rather than mechanically verify that prescription.
I still had problems with my contacts, and had not yet ordered my glasses.
I went in for a third time, and he doubled down on the fact that my prescription was correct. I felt completely gaslit.
I felt like my experience was not listened to, and he still printed out a prescription a third time, and my glasses prescription was altered yet again.
I hesitated ordering glasses for a long time because I was pretty confident the prescription was incorrect. I was not very satisfied with the contact lenses, but I used the trial pair a little bit while I was exercising.
Finally, after several months, when my son's glasses broke, And he finally picked a new frames I decided to order new glasses with the prescription.
Big surprise... The left eye was very blurry.
I made an appointment with the Excel Eye Center in Saratoga Springs, and spent all morning with a different doctor. And neither one of my eyes had the correct prescription. They also refitted me for contacts, and adjusted the prescription for both eyes there.
My trial pair of contacts already fits better than anything Dr. Simmons provided.
He does not listen. Either he has become incompetent, or he will not allow his professional ego to receive feedback, or he should no longer be practicing.
I hate to leave such a harshly critical review, but this has been four months of frustration, and gaslighting that has left me, uncertain of myself. I should've trusted my intuition all along.
When I called last night to the office staff, thankfully, they scheduled me at another location and were very professional about it.
However, I cannot recommend anybody see Dr. Simmons. I do not think he should be practicing any longer. At the very least, he needs to have some serious retraining on doctor-patient relationships, and the importance of listening to his patient's experience, understanding his patients, and seeking to understand another human being.
It is worth mentioning that getting my PD measurement from the eyeglasses center in store was very inconvenient. The woman did not take an accurate measurement, and she seemed very put off that I was planning to order eyeglasses from EyeBuyDirect, who by the way were very easy to work with in exchanging the wrong prescription glasses for the right ones.
Choose any other location than here, even if it's a bit of a drive.
Dr Nathan Lambert and his staff have been great to deal with! Dr Lambert has done excellent work with my cataract surgery and lens replacements. I am very pleased!
If I could give them a 0 I would. They were the absolute worst to work with. Be sure you are EXTREMELY specific when you call.
I called in asking specifically if they accepted my insurance, to which I was told yes. I asked if I could get contacts and glasses there, to which I was told yes.
I went it and was seen for maybe 5 minutes. I had 2 tests done on my eyes, not even the routine ones. I sat in their office for 25 minutes alone the rest of the time. I was told by one doctor that my vision had changed and another doctor that it didn't. I indicated my vision was better at the higher prescription, but was told it's not a "significant enough" change for him to update my prescription.
After basically no tests, no help, no nothing, I was finally allowed to leave. They told me, on top of my co-pay, I owed a contact prescription fee... That's right. $30 fee just to get a prescription for an exam they didn't do, which seemed odd. They also couldn't fulfill my contact prescription order. I have to take that prescription and go somewhere else to order my contacts.
On top of all of this, they then billed me through medical vs my vision insurance. Because although they say they take vision insurance, they indeed do not because of the typical "Type of Doctor" at that office. So after over $130 for a routine eye exam, here I am writing this review and looking for another doctor so I can get a NEW exam and order my contacts...
Horrible attitudes from the front desk to the doctors. Horrible service from the front desk to the doctors. Incompetent and useless office! Go literally anywhere else.
Dr. Ririe and staff are exceptional and very experienced and kind. Short wait time and great experience.
If there was a '0' star I would have put that.
I went to see my Simmons this last week and had the absolute worst experience with this man. After the tech did my eye exam and proceeded to dilate my eyes. The tech left and went to get the Dr. When he came in he didn't introduce himself, didn't verify who I was.. then grabbed the mechanic and did my left eye (that was infact blurry with the 'perscription' before he swapped to the next eye), then my right eye. He proceeded to push the mechanic to the side and just started talking to the tech. Still not acknowledging me whatsoever (thank you) then started talking to me about contacts. Told the tech to see if they had my 'perscription' and she left. Finally he asked me if I had any questions. So I asked to see my 'perscription'. Why? Because the tech (who is not the Doctor) said he needed to verify my 'perscription' and when he came in didn't even show me what my 'perscription' is. While this whole time I'm worried about my left eye that was blurry. When I asked him the look of irritation, the huff in his voice the passive aggressive comment of "your eyes have been dilated", reshowed me the 'perscription' and sure enough the left eye was blurry. But your right my eyes were dilated, shouldn't the Dr dilate the eyes so he can completely verify my 'perscription' is correct?
Anyways fast forward they said they would call me when the contacts came in. So Friday I decided to call to see if by chance they came in. Guess what, they were. They didn't call, they didn't text, they didn't email. It's okay the customer did their job.
I come in and the front lady (not the receptionist) asked what I was there for and I explained, she said she needed to finish up with this customer. K bet. No problem. Once she was done however she pulled out my contacts, looked me dead in the eyes with complete irritation, annoyance and arrogance saying "aggg you have to be contact trained" she huffed, she puffed and walked over to reception with me and told them "she needs to be trained, do not give them to her til she has an appointment to be trained". Umm excuse me?! I can put contacts in. So she walks back to her desk in the front and the receptionist asked if it had to be a specific Dr because apparently Dr Simmons wasn't there that day. So the receptionist walked back over to the lady and asked her a question (total side note I had my head phones in but nothing was playing, I could hear everything) the lady at the front proceeded to huff again with agitation because I the customer am wanting to get the contacts today and not wait another week for them.
So the lady proceeded to walk past me into the back room and started talking to the tech...
"Agg can you just help this lady, she's not going to leave and is being a pain in my ass"
Ha thank you.
They did pull me back showed me how to put the contacts in and out and I left.
I have officially had these contacts for 3 days, I've had them in almost all day no problem. But you wanna know what? My left eye 'perscription' is wrong. Oh but it's okay because Dr Simmons really did his job.
10/10 don't recommend. They don't care about their customers no no.
Thanks
I went inside with my friend to order her a new prescription for her glasses and I wanted to see if this was a place I would want to go for my future eye appointments. Never again will I step foot in that place. The lady who helped us basically said that since my friend wasn't pregnant and was over 20 she couldn't be helped and that they don't take "poor people's insurance" (her words not mine). She would also never talk to my friend it was always to me, which is insane since I don't go there. This lady was extremely rude and unprofessional and everyone should avoid going there. We had a consultation where you basically said you wouldn't help us because your too good for the people who need you yeah I hope you go out of business, then we'll see. Never again would I go here, there's better places where they treat you with better respect.
Staff and clinicians friendly, and they take the time to discuss and explain exam results.
