Great patient service begins at the front desk, Mom (Alicia Valenzuela) and myself were very impressed by the quality of work by this office. Professionalism, knowledge and care were shown at all times by the awesome staff. Thank You Dr. Karren, Jayden, James, Jordan, Dawnette, Carter, Mackenzie, Jesslyn, Jordan, Hannah, Mikayla, Ashlyn, Zach, Maddie and Emma for your great service and concern. Hector V. Cancino and mother.
Dr. Nilson recently performed surgery on my left eye. He removed a cataract and corrected an astigmatism. His knowledge and abilities were outstanding. He listened to my concerns and gave me positive feedback after the surgery. His Staff was kind , supportive and efficient. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking outstanding eye care.
The provider was very nice. Unfortunately his staff screwed up so bad and scheduled for the wrong procedure. Now we have to do ANOTHER evaluation and wait AGAIN for insurance AGAIN to approve to have this done even though it was already approved and we had already had an evaluation and we had already waited two months to have this done! When the staff asked me what we were coming in for and I told them they kept trying to correct me and looked at me like I was dumb and didn't even know what we were doing when in fact they were wrong and they didn't know what they were doing! So unprofessional. One nurse rolled her eyes at me and completely turned away from me when I asked her a question like I was bothering her. The only one kind enough to explain and even bother to say that they had messed up was the doctor. The only reason it's not a negative star is because of the doctor. Geez ladies if you messed up at least take responsibility or at least apologize or anything! Don't just roll your eyes and walk away like it was my fault that your fingers pressed the wrong buttons! But I will be calling out insurance and letting them k ow so they don't pay for a procedure that we did not receive!
I had a great experience! Doctor Nilson is really good and took the time to answer all of my questions. He is very personable and I have complete confidence in him. The rest of the staff who assisted also helped make my experience a good one!
Came here because of all the great reviews, but will not be coming back was very disappointed. When I called a month ago I let them know my current eye doctor wouldn't release my prescription since it expired a few months ago but if they needed it they could call. The day before the appointment they called and reminded me of my appointment and I let them know again in case they needed a phone number or anything.
I got to my appointment filled out my new patient form (stating I was pregnant) and told the guy doing my eye exam my last contact lens numbers and he asked if I brought my old perscription, I explained I couldn't and if they need it I can give them the number, again. He then performed the eye exam, gave me some new contacts to try and I let him know that the one eye is way different then my contact lens number before. He acted surprised even though at the beginning I told him what number was on my last boxes....
Then, the doctor came in and said he "thought I would be a great candidate for lasik eye surgery" and asked if I wanted more information about it. I was very confused and said, "well I've heard that your eyes change a lot when you have kids, so I don't think it is a good idea". He then agreed that yes, your eyes can change a lot after you have kids. My new patient form says right on the paper- currently pregnant. I felt like no one talked to each other. When I called a month ago they never got my old prescription, the guy didn't listen when I said what my old contact prescription was, and here was the doctor saying I'm a great candidate not realizing I just marked that I was pregnant and my eyes are about to change even more. Very disappointed, felt like he was pushing for a procedure for the money.
Doctors, technicians, and staff are professional, knowledgeable, and have amazing bedside manners/customer service! Skilled with young children, timely for all my appointments, and billing went so smooth! Absolutely recommend!
I cannot express how disappointed I am in the service I received from Northern Utah Eye Center. I came in to renew my contact prescription and was given a prescription for half of what I had been wearing. I immediately told the technician and Dr. Karren that I couldn't see using the contacts, and instead of taking my concerns seriously, I was told to "just try them out for a couple of days to let your eyes adjust."
The next day, I came back because I couldn't see well enough to drive or follow lectures in class. Dr. Karren's advice to this was to wear the new contacts at home and whenever I need to leave the house switch to my old contacts. That is hands-down some of the worst medical advice I've ever received. After a full week of back and forth, they finally gave me my old prescription. They didn't recheck my eyes or verify anything, just wrote it up and printed it out.
To make things worse, a couple of months later, I received a text saying I owe them $20 extra, despite already paying $80 for the exam, which is far more than I've paid anywhere else. When I called to ask what this charge was for, I was told, "Billing will know," and then the call ended. I attempted to call back to the billing extension and did not get an answer nor a call back.
Overall, this place felt completely unprofessional, and I would not trust them with your vision!
Went to Dr. Nilsen to be tested for cataracts only to be told without any satisfying proof that this was so. A surgery was scheduled to remove cataracts and replace with long range vision ability and corrective lenses for short range [readers]. Surgery prep involved an I.V. be placed in my wrist which led to an obviously inexperienced nurse to start injection at my wrist and continued half way up my arm searching for success, I thought. Now she is on the floor in a puddle of my blood still trying until I demanded she find someone that actually knew this procedure. Dr. Nilson's assistant entered the room and announced "what happened here" and repaired the injection. After the surgery Dr. Nilson assured me the surgery went well. After recovery I was given a assortment of items and instructions for their use, sunglasses, eyepatch, tape, eyedrops and schedule for their use. I followed the schedule to the letter even having trouble with the eyepatch that would not stay taped on when sleeping... I reported to Dr. Nilson my vision was cloudy and impaired by anomalies greatly impairing my ability to see clearly. After a laser treatment meant to break up this mystifying abnormality my vision has not recovered and everyday tasks like driving, reading and depth perception have greatly diminished my previous quality of life...
