I have received excellent care at Excel Eye Center in Provo for several years. Dr. Loveless has managed my scleral lenses for keratoconus with meticulous attention to detail, making precise adjustments over time to ensure my lenses are as optimal for me as possible. He clearly takes great pride in his work and is consistently kind, patient, and attentive, making it genuinely a pleasure to be under his care. When my lens unexpectedly shattered, he accommodated me on short notice, which I greatly appreciated. He's the best! Dr. Wilkinson, my ophthalmologist, has been exceptional. His treatment for my keratoconus has been life-changing, and his thoroughness, clear communication, and excellent follow-up reflect an outstanding standard of care. He was also incredibly helpful with the documentation required for my military accession, going above and beyond throughout the process. Although my diagnosis initially felt overwhelming, the team took the time to guide me through every step, ensuring I felt informed, supported, and confident in my care. The entire team is professional and welcoming--from check-in with Kenna to front desk assistance by Raquel. I highly recommend Excel Eye Center, especially for patients with complex corneal conditions.

Dr. Ricks did my PRK surgery and it was a great experience! My recovery went smoothly and the staff was all very helpful and considerate. I've also been going to excel for years before my surgery and they've taken great care of me!

5 star experience! Dr. Lambert is so great. Super knowledgeable, explains everything very well, and got me set with everything I needed in a timely manner. The front desk staff of Analise and Raquel were very kind and helped me right away, making me feel very comfortable right when I walked in. Thank you for a great visit!

The doctor's office is great, been going for a few years now, however buying glasses from them is an awful experience. If you need them readjusted I suggest you make sure your lenses aren't damaged at all because they will damage them in the process, not tell you, and then blame it on you when you call and ask them about it. Very unprofessional in my opinion. They told me I was lucky to have a warranty otherwise I'd have to pay; for their mistake, that they will take absolutely no accountability for. Very disappointed and will not be purchasing glasses from them directly any longer.

Unfortunately pretty bad experience. We called ahead and made an appointment. Reiterated over the phone that we'd like to know FOR SURE whether our our insurance was covered for new glasses. We were told it would be covered but just a cheap pair. No problem, we made the appointment, had the exam, and got my new prescription. Only to then be told after they got our annual eye exam FROM our insurance, that they couldn't cover any part of the glasses and it would need to be billed out of network or paid for our of pocket. Talk about deceiving. They convinced us to give use them, only to then back out when we needed them. Spoke to multiple employees and asked for a manager and didn't get one. They have the ability to fix it and they just choose not to. That's called bad customer service. $300 for a cheap pair of glasses is the least they can do for scamming me.

I am disappointed with the care and customer service at Excel Eye Center in Provo. In late 2024, Excel EC charged me $967 for two scleral contact lenses, and ultimately delivered lenses that did not match the prescription diagnosed or ordered by the doctor. I did not receive what I paid for. During the three-month fitting process, I tried different combinations of four different lenses, none were satisfactory and I tried to return them for a full refund. Optometry staff told me I could not return for a refund because the 90-day warranty period had passed, even though I had tried the last left lens for only a couple weeks. During my 2025 exam, I discovered three things; 1) the lenses delivered to me did not match the prescription ordered (the doctor measured the prescriptions), 2) the warranty period should have been 120 days, and 3) Excel EC does not have a quality control process to measure the accuracy of prescriptions before delivering new lenses to patients. The doctor admitted all this and suggested I should be allowed to exchange the useless lenses for a newly prescribed pair. But now they are refusing, shifting financial responsibility to me or an insurance company. How would I as a patient know that a contact lens was prescribed or manufactured incorrectly? These special lenses are expensive, why don't they have a quality control process? Why didn't they honor the 120-day warranty period? Excel could easily do the right thing, but I have also learned their customer service record does not match their claims. Follow-up to this experience. I filed a report to the Utah Division of Consumer Protection. Excel shared at least one piece of false information during the investigation. So they'll do about anything to avoid accountability. Shame on them.

Raquel at the front desk was extremely friendly, cheerful and accommodating as I left my insurance card at home. She quickly called for assistance to the billing department and Stuart from that team was able to pull up my insurance information. Thank you both Raquel and Stuart! You went above and beyond to assist.

Seen Dr Smootz for a glaucoma follow up. Everything went fine dr was excellent like always. Receptionist Raquel was very friendly and helpful.
