I am not one to write public reviews, but I have to say that my experience here was OUTSTANDING! Prior to my visit, I was a wee-bit wobbly when I first saw their star rating (we're talking eyes here, not a restaurant review - right?!). As I went through the reviews, I saw that clearly they had an administrative staff issue. I did not find this to be the case at all. Each person I spoke to was professional. To top it off, I have a weird and wacky issue. The staff took me seriously and accommodated me accordingly, without a hint of being put out. Well done!
Very good doctors for my eye needs who are very knowledgeable. (Look at some of their bios for more information on that , but we are lucky to have many of them.) The hospital administration has gone to a somewhat "See 8 patients per hour" kind of model, which is a challenge sometimes. And, some of the staff in the ophthalmology department could do a bit better with their people skills (and the only way that will change is if we patients stand up and say so). But, overall, I'm pretty happy with my experiences with this department.
If you have sensory processing issues (ASD/ADHD) they refuse to examine you. Ableist. Shameful. Illegal. I filed a complaint with HHS.This is unbelievable for a teaching hospital.
Great experience here, from me checking in, to the eye tests, and my leaving everyone I came across was friendly and professional and very good at their jobs. I appreciated the time taken to explain to me the ins and outs as that has not usually been my experience. I am pleased to be seen by a team that is very aware of why I am getting my eyes tested and looking specifically at the health of my eyes in regards to that in oppose to commercial eye doctors where a lot of time and focus can be put on lenses. I was happy to hear that the eye doctor I was seeing had experience with others in my situation and although I arrived nervous I left pleased with the results, the overall experience, and feeling comfortable and confident with this new team I will be seeing annually. Recommended!
If at all possible I would give them no stars because the don't even deserve one. I had an appointment here for my daughter in April which was canceled due to covid, which I expected would happen. I was told that I would be called in June and they would reschedule her. Well halfway through June she lost her glasses and I knew she needed a new prescription as she had been complaining of headaches. Knowing that I was told that they would be calling in June to reschedule her anyway I called to see about getting her in for her exam as soon as possible. My daughter also has a condition where her right eye turns in. This condition is corrected with her glasses but without them we had a very big problem. The woman I spoke with basically laughed at me, was completely rude and told me they probably wouldn't be able to get her in until NEXT YEAR! I explained that she had an appointment in April which was canceled and also told her about my daughter's eye condition and the fact that she had no glasses at this point because she had lost them. She then proceeded to tell me that my daughters vision was not an emergency and that someone would call me next week to reschedule her, again for next year, if I wanted to make that appointment...nobody ever called! These people obviously don't care about their patients. I highly recommend finding another place for your eyecare needs.
Make sure to have a driver if getting eyes dilated. Also bring and wear polarized sunglasses- they can also provide you with a disposable pair.
Exposure to sunlight particularly after dilation can cause strain on your eyes because they can't adjust to light normally; I think this could be harmful to your eyes. I personally won't be undergoing eye dilation drops again.
I also read that the "blue light" from computer screens (smartphones included) act similarly as UV Rays, so I'd stay away from artificial lighting as well.
Not sure how healthy those drops are.
Amazing staff and doctors. Worked with me nights and weekends to help resolve my unusual eye issue.
I have no complaints with the doctors or staff, but the costs of doing ANYTHING at this hospital is outrageous!!
