The most detailed eye exam i have had. . Dr.O was very friendly and so was Nick the eye tech person( I hope I got his name, right). He made the stuff I needed me to do very simple the way he explained it. Dr.O Showed me pictures of my eye and explained all the parts of it and how diabetes can affect it. The front office staff was also very nice and professional. She knew exactly what she were doing when it came to figuring out my insurance. They do expect Payment and they have you signed so many forms about canceling and not being late if you do owe something. But I think most businesses are heading that way. I was very happy with my visit.

As someone who has a family history of glaucoma and other eye issues, I always feel incredibly well cared for by Dr O and the staff at Valley Optometry. I've been a customer for several years now and have recommended them to family and friends. I never feel rushed, always feel like all my questions are answered and know I'm in good hands. The staff has always been friendly and helpful to our family and I'm so glad they're in the Rutland area and not an hour away!

The staff has always been very friendly - from the front-desk, to the folks facilitating tests, to the doctor. The doctor is thorough and knowledgeable across the variety of eye exams and care I have had. The new location is much easier to get to and the parking lot is better. The office is clean and welcoming. When I've had to take medications they suggested lower cost options. I have had a few situations where the wait time was longer than expected. There have also been several things that I was expecting to be covered by VSP vision insurance, but then were charged to medical insurance because of my conditions. After I called VSP and they said it should have been put through them and covered fully.

Same horrible experiences as everyone else -- cancellation fees for appointments cancelled months ahead of time, extra fees and tests sneaked into the basic exam, insurance tomfoolery, unprofessional staff, long waits. To top it off, had got a bad prescription -- watering eyes and headaches. Called and was told to wait longer, and asked if maybe I got glasses from "another source" and that's where the issue stemmed from. Called a couple weeks later, headaches and blurry rx worse, and was told I'd now have to pay a fee to have the Rx double-checked. Only time I've ever felt compelled to leave a 1 star review somewhere. Avoid.

I have been a patient since before Dr. O took over the practice. I have insurance and an HRS that covers my appointment cost, but I was required to pay. The office took nearly 6 months to reimburse me the out of pocket expenses - the Dr. and staff are very condescending . They push products like supplements, eye compresses, etc. Their eyeglasses are very expensive and if you don't by them from them the almost shame you. During my last visit, I was told that they would drop me as a patient if I refuse to have my eyes dilated . All patients have control of their treatment and what they allow. I would not recommend this practice.

Would highly recommend Valley Optometry for exceptional eye care. They offer state of the art diagnostic equipment and testing, as well as excellent customer service. Dr. O provided the most thorough eye care that I've ever had.

I had to cancel my new patient appointment at Valley Optometry after doing some thorough research into how the visit would be billed. While my insurance clearly covers a comprehensive new patient eye exam with a standard $10 copay, I learned--only through my own advocacy and follow-up--that this office requires certain procedures to be bundled into the standard exam. These added procedures change how the visit is coded and billed, resulting in significantly higher out-of-pocket costs (in my case, potentially over $200). Unfortunately, this kind of opaque billing practice puts patients in a difficult position. The U.S. healthcare system is already complex, but when providers have the discretion to choose billing codes that fall outside standard coverage--especially for a routine, preventative visit--it makes it hard for patients to make informed decisions and protect themselves financially. I want to be clear: I never saw the doctor, so I can't speak to the quality of care provided. However, the way the office is set up to conduct business and bill patients is concerning. As someone without any known eye issues simply trying to schedule a preventative exam, this experience was discouraging and frustrating. To add to the issue, the office initially tried to charge me a $35 cancellation fee, which I declined given the circumstances. Ultimately, I chose to cancel the appointment and take my care elsewhere. Valley Optometry lost a new patient over this. I hope they consider being more transparent in their billing practices going forward. I cannot recommend this office based on my experience.

Valley Optometry treated me very courteously and moved me right through their various procedures. New to me was an examination of the macula of my eye. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
