Griffey Eye Care & Laser Center - Carmichael

II arrived promptly at 10:15 for my 10:30 appointment, but unfortunately, it took a full 20 minutes for the clerk to assist me as she engaged in conversation with the person ahead of me. Approximately 15 minutes later, I was finally called to the back. While I understand the challenges of staffing, I must express my disappointment in the check in process My initial encounter was quite unsatisfactory, lacking warmth and friendliness. I have been a loyal patient of Griffey Eye for many years, even before the arrival of Dr. Fox. I never encountered any issues with the staff until this recent visit. Once in the back, everything was professionally handled and so was the check out process. Dr Fox is very knowledgeable and made sure to get me scheduled for a medical appointment with Dr Griffey.

I went in for a much delayed diabetic eye exam. The staff was super nice but they were under staffed. They did a fantastic job by keeping everyone moving through the stations. Dr. Fox was wonderful as always! I love the new facility!

Wait was way too long, then a rushed visit with doctor. Otherwise all the people are very friendly and nice, pleasant as usual. I think they just have too many patients and not enough resources to handle the volume. Management should be attentive to the flow of the patient experience.

From the beginning I should have known! I was in for a medical check an eye lid infection & was made to undergo & PAY close to $68.00 for an eye examination (On Monday late 5:30pm)! My vision was already distorted from the eye lid swelling! This is a re-occurring thing for my eye lid. The person doing the exam was fine & personable. However the doctor finally to see me was rushed and speaking as if he was my regular eye doctor which this practice is not! He was pushing cataract surgery which is probably true. My concern here is that he only quickly glanced at the screen at my records from a standing position by the machine once I told him I was allergic to amoxicillin! He then said the antibiotic that he would prescribe which meant nothing to me! My husband picked it up the next afternoon for me. Lo & behold it came with a warning that it had a not so nice intermix with one of my medications! I called immediately at 4:41 (the office closes at 5:00) I asked to speak with the doctor on call & he said he also was on the same med as myself he supposedly took all my info & said someone would be in contact with me! No contact with me today so I called around noon. Explained about everything to the scheduler who made me a new appt with Dr Griffey the beginning of March. I asked for a call back about the meds because I do not want a repeat of med interactions! I was told I may not get a call back today????? I checked with their 3rd party billing & my insurance was already charged for the Monday medical visit! So in order to go see another practice altogether I will have to pay totally out of pocket in order to just get a correct prescription????

I have been in Dr. Fox's care for several years now and both he and his team are extraordinary! Very caring, attentive and thorough. I have also had the pleasure of having Dr. Griffey perform my cataract surgery, and it really was a pleasure. There's always trepidation in advance of any surgery, but Dr. Griffey and his team were wonderful through the entire process, and the surgery was quick and painless. Thank you Griffey Eyecare for being top notch!

First time seeing Dr. FOX. He was very pleasant. Staff were nice. I was confused between the Medical visit and a routine eye exam. I have always had my yearly exam so I was surprised when they automatically scheduled me for a Medical. Not sure why the Medical is important. This must be new as I have never had a choice in the past. Otherwise, I was pleased with my visit.

I was seen on time. The tech Erika was very professional and patient. Dr Fox listened to my concerns & explained what my care will be. I was able to book my next appointment for next year. Everyone at the front desk was friendly. For me who has anxiety from childhood trauma evolving eye surgery I was treated thoughtfully and I won't avoid future appointments.

Dr. Griffey Eye Care is one of the best eye places in Hampton Roads. I don't even mind the drive out to Edinburgh. I think they could use some more staff but Dr. Fox was amazing as usual.
