The cost is outrageous and the service is poor. I went for a cyst on my eye and was initially told to put hot compresses on it. During the follow up, I was told that it would require surgery and that it was considered cosmetic, so I would be responsible for the entire bill. The total cost for 2 five minute visits was $526!
I went to another group for a second opinion and was told that it was NOT a cosmetic procedure and that they could easily remove the cyst. So don't waste you time and money with Virginia Eye Institute.
Wonderful experience for a first time patient! Very friendly staff and the office environment was great! The Dr. was very thorough and didn't rush me in and out like so many medical offices do these days. I highly recommend VEI to everyone!
Wonderful staff, the lady at the front desk was so sweet and kind, Dr assistant really nice, Dr was very informative!!
I have been a client of the iron bridge VEI for over 20 years. Today, I had the most unhelpful and rude staff. When I called regarding purchasing more contacts the receptionist said there was nothing she could do, proceeded to blame me for running out of contacts "because you're not supposed to wait until the last minute" to schedule appointments even though I scheduled my appointment 3 months prior, and when I asked her to stop being rude to me she hung up on me. I called back and requested to speak to a manager but never received a call back. After she hung up, I called a separate VEI office who resolved my issue with no problem or rudeness. The solution offered to all of the poor reviews based on rude service below is to call the number and speak to the same rude individuals. If you want helpful service, use a different VEI office because this office's demeanor and professionalism is despicable. I feel bad for the doctors who are losing out on clients based on the rude front desk staff.
Judith is amazing she check me in. I'm a new patient she explained everything was precise and clear. She was professional and friendly. Also playing 70's music which I love. The kindness and music kept me in a good mood. It set the atmosphere, I recommend this doctor's office. If I could give a million hearts I would.
Front desk staff is rude. My 18 year old daughter went in for an eye appointment. I was not able to go with her that day because I also had a doctor's appointment. She had her military ID that contains her beneficiary number for her insurance. They asked her what kind of tricare it was and she didn't know. Rather than calling their insurance department to have them quickly look it up (which btw, I phoned that very morning to make sure my daughter brought in what she needed and that person was extremely helpful and nice) the front desk ladies laughed at her not knowing and refused to allow her to keep her appointment because she didn't know how to answer what specific kind of insurance she had, even though she had possession of her card and they have a helpful insurance department who could have told them in about 10 minutes. They proceeded to make her another appointment. However, she nor I will be using Virginia Eye Institute at Chester for our eye needs anymore.
Absolutely not punctual. I wish I could give a better rating, but the wait was sooo long: 2.5h for a routine eye exam. Ridiculous.
No concern for people's time.
Also the receptionist was quite rude and sassy. No greetings, or response to my greetings, other than "ID". I understand peoples can have high and low in their day, but she was outright rude.
On the punctuality: I inquired after 1h, to know how long it would take, and I have been asked, quite rudely (by a nurse who looks frustrated, as if she was being asked this all the time...), to seat back in the examination room and wait for the doctor.
15 min later, I could hear, through the door, the doctor talking with the nurse staffs then starting a random conversation about their weekends, kids, ... It lasted 30 min.
Again, clearly not respecting people's time. Communication was poor, and I felt bad asking again, as it was my fault being there and giving them business.
It may be a good location for other treatment and services, but a simple eye exam routine shouldn't take more than 1h.
The receptionist who checked us in was incredibly rude. My husband and I both had eye exams for the same time and the receptionist kept speaking over us when we were trying to tell her this. She then said "I just need the last name of the patient so I can look up the information!" After her outburst, I was finally able to tell her that we were both being seen at the same time and it is under two different last names. She asked for my husband's insurance card and then my husband asked if she would need mine as well since I am the primary account holder. She was rude with her response and asked why she would need mine if she already had his. It turns out she needed to see mine after all so I don't understand why she couldn't just say she would take it in a moment. It was our first time and the very first interaction we had at this clinic.
