I love Drs. Scoper, Salib, and Litwak. I have never received anything but excellent care from the providers. However, the office/appointment experience is consistently dreadful.
Appointments at both the Suffolk and Norfolk locations frequently take 3+ hours (and not because of necessary time for dilation/exam etc.). I have not had my eyes dilated (even though I asked if they should be) to then have the physician say that dilation is a requirement for exam. I have waited for 15 mins outside an empty office waiting for the scheduler to then be told that she has gone to lunch. I have waited 30 minutes to simply pay my co-pay at the end of an appointment. Office staff have been consistently friendly and kind but there's something going sideways in the process. Do better. Your physicians and your patients deserve better.
If you come to Virginia Eye Consultants you can be assured that you will receive excellent care, but clear your calendar for the rest of the day.
1. The care I have received has been excellent.
HOWEVER!!!!!!!
2. The wait times have been abysmal, with zero respect for the patients time. Nobody says "I'm sorry, we're running behind" just left to sit there!!!! After sitting for 50 mins, I asked how much longer I would be expected to wait. I was told that there were still 4 people in front of me to see my provider and they didn't know how long it would be. (This was not the 1st or even 2nd time this had happened to me!)
I was given the excuse that someone or other had 'called out' that day. I suggest your scheduling practices should be reviewed and improved upon.
KUDOS....to Jason at Norfolk office, he is an outstanding employee !
I've been seeing Dr. Okeke at Virginia Eye Consultants for years, even back when I was active-duty military, and she has always been the reason I continue to come here. She is an outstanding doctor in every sense of the word.
Her knowledge is unmatched, but what really stands out is the way she treats her patients. She explains everything clearly, she listens, and she never rushes you. You can tell this isn't just a job to her -- she truly cares about the people she treats.
I recently had eye surgery, and when things got scary afterward, she handled everything with calm professionalism and genuine concern. She walked me through every step and made sure I understood what was going on. That type of care is rare.
Dr. Okeke gives her patients confidence and hope. She takes her time, she pays attention, and she treats you like your vision matters to her personally.
If you want someone you can trust with your eyes, your health, and your peace of mind, Dr. Okeke at Virginia Eye Consultants is the one. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
The practice is so well organized. The front desk staff was welcoming and friendly! Each phase of my visit led me to appreciate the competence and professionalism of the technicians/assistance that helped me. Dr. Paladino exuded extreme knowledge and expertise in evaluating my case. I feel very confident and comfortable at this point that my decision to choose this practice was a good one!
I have a scratch on my cornea that has never healed up, reoccurring issue. Went to this place to see if they could help. Did everything that they asked me to do, from vitamins, to drops, to a bandage contact that I was told not to take out even while sleeping. In a weeks time from office visit, my eye became flaming red and felt super irritated even with bandage contact in. Took out bandage contact even though it was against doctors orders. Next day my eye was swollen shut and looked horrible but felt worse, my eye was infected. I went to the hospital where I found no relief and was told to visit eye doctor in the morning. Went to optometrist that seemed just as lost on what to do. Finally went to another opthomologist (not this place of course, efinitely wasn't going back here) and thank God he knew what was happening. My eye had become hypoxic and had attached to the contact lense. When I removed the contact I also removed the top layer of my eyeball. He pealed the scab from my eye since it was not healing well, put antibiotic ointment in my eye, pressure bandaged it. I went back next day and eye was looking much better, by much better I mean like the one side of my face was no longer looking like I got hit with a bat. Doctor worked with me, multiple visits for weeks to get situated. My eye sight took even longer to fully return. I mean my eyesight was so bad I could barely read the big E on the chart and that was with my glasses on. This place has cost me thousands of dollars in medical bills and a lot of unnecessary pain. I was not informed that anything like this could be possible during my visit and followed doctor orders to a T. Do not recommend.
My mom had her cornea transplant here. Every time we have been there the wait is ridiculous. The place is huge and clearly packed full of people waiting to be seen. Corporate doctors with an assembly line atmosphere. After her transplant she was supposed to be on her back for 48 hrs with a 5 minute window to use the bathroom every hour. The day after we went in for her follow up check up, with a Dr in the aesthetic clinic. It wasn't even a surgeon. This Dr was nice but needed a second option from a surgeon. Why do they have people who are not qualified checking surgery patients the next day? She was sitting upright for a total of 2 hours, not to mention the time it took her to get up and for us to drive there. There was no rush or concern for her post surgery. My mother is older and became very agitated that she was sitting up. She had one eye done in Philly and the hospital there was run much better and her health was the focus. She was in and out right away. Don't let the looks of this office fool you. It's gorgeous but that doesn't make it the best place for your care. It's shame because I feel the surgeons are knowledgeable, they just take on too way too many patients for the staff they have. Find a small eye center where your health is the priority over patients and their money.
From first entering Va Eye Consultants to when I left.It was one of the happiest places I have ever been too. Everyone was smiling or laughing..and EVERY person that took care of me was AMAZING.Thank you
Worst place ive ever been to. Messed up appointments that cause me additional fees and now they seem to have changed my surgery date without my approval. See pics. Avoid at all costs. Total incompetence. I originally asked for a specific doctor as I have glaucoma and that specific foctor was recommended by my previous doctor in CT. Instead i got a different doctor with no glaucoma experience so of course i had to go back and spend another $50 copay. Of course this visit ended up being more expensive b/c anthem. And now Im getting texts about the wrond surgery date... when im not available.... After slready asking coworkers to help me. These people are the absolute worst. Do not expect a call back within the 48 hours they say they can. They never called. Just this text with the wrong date. I really couldn't be more concerned for my eye health as they are 100% incompetent.
