Would not go anyplace else. The staff are great people, I am handicapped and they go out of their way to help me. Dr.Foster is one the nicest person you'll ever want to meet. He explains stuff so you can understand it and shows a genuine concern for his patients.

Dr. Foster saw me almost immediately for an emergency visit with a room full of patients and was very personable, professional, and thorough. He cut no corners despite his seemingly full schedule. He preformed a minor procedure on my eye with ease, relieved my pain and sent me on my way. I am very thankful to have such a great optometrist in the small town of South Hill. Thank you Dr: Foster.

This was my first visit to Legacy Eye Care, and I was looking forward to it because I was long overdue for an eye exam and new glasses. Unfortunately, I left very disappointed and wished that I had made an appointment elsewhere. My low rating is because of the front desk staff, not the doctor. The lady who checked me in was rude and condescending. That was my first impression of this office, and unfortunately it is the most lasting impression. At the Lombardy St. location, there are two different ladies at the front desk, one who checks you in when you first get there and another who checks you out when you're finished with the exam. At least that was the case when I was there. The lady who checked me out after the exam had a strong southern accent; she was lovely and very kind. I wanted to clarify so no one at the office gets confused as to whom I'm referring. The younger woman who sits closer to the waiting room, that's the one who was rude and condescending. She addressed me when I first came in but she wasn't even looking at me and I barely heard her, so I wasn't sure she was actually talking to me. She then spoke again and asked for my insurance card. I showed her my insurance card which is downloaded on my phone, because my vision insurer does not issue hard copies. She seemed annoyed and barely even looked at it, and didn't take my phone to actually look at the card. She just barely glanced as I held it out to her waiting for her to take it. Then she kept going on and on about how my vision insurance wouldn't pay if the doctor found a medical (non-vision) issue during the exam and I'd have to pay for it out of pocket since I didn't have separate medical insurance. That's fine. If I had to pay an additional $200 or whatever, that's not going to bankrupt me, so I don't know why she was so condescending about it and loudly explaining. I don't know if she looked at me and assumed I was poor or an idiot or what. I happen to have a grad school education, and I am gainfully employed in the healthcare field. So there's no need to talk to me like I don't understand basic concepts like paying for a procedure that's not covered by insurance. It's not rocket science. If I didn't need new glasses so badly and if it didn't take so long to get an appointment with any eye doctors in this small town, I would've simply walked out. Even though my exam with Dr. Foster was fine, I will be looking for a new optometrist for my 2026 exam because I have no interest in returning to that office. Medical professionals need to be more prudent about who they choose to be the initial face of their practice. That first person will leave a lasting impression, and I personally refuse to give repeat business to any establishment where I am treated rudely and with condescension.

The doctor and the staff are very professional and well versed in customer care. I would recommend this place for all walks of life in the care of their vision for now and thereafter. When I ordered my glasses they came through swiftly and I had many choices to choose from.
