Excellent eye therapy. Amazing team here that has helped my husband improve his vision, his symptoms and his cognition. The therapist Jordan always challenged my husband with the goal of being sharper. Jordan has excellent skills. Dr Goul very thorough paying close attention to details. We both highly recommend this amazing team.

I was fortunate enough to find Dr. Guhl because I wanted to know if I needed prisms in my lenses. I had them in my lenses for years and I didn't know when they were removed. Long story, short, I didn't need prisms & my new prescription was incorrect. Dr. Guhl completed a full exam. I was set up with dedicated computer glasses that I needed more than I expected and everyday glasses that reduced my eye strain & headaches. After the appointment I asked, can I stay here as a patient, please? That should say everything. If you're looking for an eye doctor that is exceptional and an office that cares about their patients,(instead of a chain eyeglass place that cares about profits first) Dr Peter Guhl & Associates are the best choice for your eye health.

So grateful for Dr Guhl and his expertise! He took his time evaluating my daughter and explaining to me how and why she views and responds to the world around her. Really looking forward to future appointments and working with his team for the best quality of life possible for my kiddo!

Dr. Guhl was personable and asked not only me (the mom) but also my elementary-age son if we had any questions before we left. His assistant Kristen had the best bedside manner of anyone in her role I've ever observed (and as a military spouse who moves frequently, I've taken my kids to a lot of different optometry and ophthalmology offices). Specifically I mean that she explained everything she was going to do to my son before she did it, especially if strange-looking devices were involved. She also administered dilating drops (which sting a bit) in the smoothest and least traumatizing way I've ever seen. She had my son lay back and lift his chin to the ceiling so as to make his face level. She then had him close his eyes. While his eyes were closed she placed drops at the corners of his eyes and then had him open his eyes and blink. This process ensured that the administration of drops was over almost as soon as it happened. I was u we impressed!

Although I have not seen Dr. Guhl in 8 plus years, he is top notch. Have not found another Dr. that has stood up to his standards in knowledge, caring and compassion, as well as his staff. I have chronic eye issues, which he was the first to diagnosis and when needed, would send me to specialist but ALWAYS checking in with me along the way as well as making sure to receive updates from the specialist. Dr. Guhl and his staff were always just a phone call away and working me in when an issue arise. No questions asked, just come in, we will make sure and get you seen. Would recommend 110%

We went to Dr. Guhl about a year ago or so. Dr. Guhl is very thorough with each patient which is a positive but we ultimately opted not to return for a few reasons: 1. They ran very late on our appointments on two occasions and as someone who works full-time with three kids - this wasn't a standing issue I could work with and they were not sympathetic to our struggle with it. 2. Dr. Guhl made my oldest daughter (16 yo) and myself uncomfortable because he uses methods for doing examinations which require he's within your personal space a lot more and doesn't really talk you through it. We went to a new provider this year who did not require that due to more modern technology to do the same exams and our comfort level was increased exponentially. Obviously, this is a personal preference, but worth mentioning. 3. They make it very difficult to go elsewhere for contact lenses and/or glasses. It's high pressure to purchase through their office which I did not appreciate. As someone who needs the convenience of having contacts ordered online and mailed (to save time as a working parent), as an example, the high pressure sales was frustrating. It was something that resulted in more trips to the office than I would have made otherwise and I also ended up paying more across the board.

Update on Dr Guhls treatment : i can honestly sincerely say that Dr .Guhl saved my life and not only that, He improved the quality of my life. He is so knowledgeable, so compassionate. He made a plan for me to start a therapy with Jordan and I have had a wonderful treatment with him . God blessed me with dr Guhls team. Please ,if you have neuro opto problem , do not give up on yourselves ,there is a great team that can help you. Thank you !!!!! Three and a half years ago i have had strokes and my vision was effected. Due to my husband being on active duty we have moved twice to different states since and it has been constant confusion with my records, difficult times to make appointments with any doctors ( due to Covid ) and some other reasons. But the hardest and the most frustrating matter was to live with the problem with no hope for recovery. After 10 or 12 different ophthalmologists, neuro optometrists, and other eye specialists , i have finally been referred to Doctor Guhl by another great doctor in Williamsburg, DR. Sholtz . I have only had one , the first appointment with Dr. Guhl, but that was enough for me to have my hope back again. Hope not only to have a better quality of my life but the hope for the Great Doctors and his staff. Unlike any other doctor i have seen , DR. Guhl is very precise, informative in describing his actions and procedures. Very tactful , respectful of your Personal Space!!! I felt taken care of with a great deal of professionalism. Moreover, DR. Guhl explained the potential path that i will be taking on my way to recovery. In addition, he just has the best sense of humor that made me feel welcomed in his office and relaxed. I must recognize that i feel very lucky to be referred to DR. Guhl. The additional thanks to his nurses and the receptionist. Very friendly and extremely professional. Just the fact that the young lady on reception was wearing hospital scrubs instead of casual street wear that so many other reception personnel at other medical offices wear . Maybe it is a little picky on my side but that was a big identifier that stuff at doctors Guhl is very professional and takes their job seriously! Looking forward to come back to healthier life. If you like a large office with outdated equipment, shortest of employees & an eye doctor who should be RETIRED then this is the place for you. Visited this office upon recommendation from Virginia Eye Consultants back in10/23. Reception had to leave to take child to school. She had to try & find someone to fill in while she was gone because other empolyees where a no show if there really were other employees. She did find a guy to fill in for her who didn't have a clue about doing the job. The doctor gave me the impression that he was just outdated & was not keeping up with the lasted technology based on all of the very old equipment & his examining techniques. I felt very uncomfortable with his techniques & decided to pursue eye services somewhere else. Didn't get prescription filled from there since I didn't trust it. Made an appointment with Eye 2 Eye which I found on my own. VERY different experience!! Everything was very modern & the doctor was on top of his game. You could tell that this doctor was continuing to educate himself with what's going on with the latest in eyecare. Don't take my word be your own judge if you decide to go here. Just sharing a TRUE experience.
