I made an appointment almost 6 weeks ago gave them all my insurance information on my personal information even did the pre-check in to make sure everything was good so I get there today which is the 9th and I was told oh we don't take your insurance tried calling you yesterday to let you know we don't well unfortunately some of us don't live by our personal cell phones we work in places that have confidentiality agreements that states we cannot bring anything in that will be able to photograph or display an image of what it is we are about in return I get a card to another optometrist that says oh call her she takes your insurance call that optometrist guess what they have not taken that insurance in years just a terrible terrible appointment system follow up and confirmation I could have had this resolved not missed an afternoon totally wasted I would not recommend for anything in the world

I have been a patient of Dr. Bazemore for over 10 years. The staff has always been very efficient and Dr. Bazemore is always so kind, gentle, and professional.

I called ahead to get the price as a customer who no longer has eye insurance because i was now on Medicare. Medicare does not pay for eye exams. I was told the price was $45 which I paid at the time of service. Four weeks later I got a bill from their office for $141 more. When I called the office I was told that was my balance because Medicare denied it and instead applied it to my deductible. I reminded them that I told them I did not have eye insurance and did not expect them to file with Medicare because I knew it would be denied. I have since learned that an uninsured person is charged $100. When they bill Medicare they bill $150 and yet somehow I am expected to pay $181 even though I called ahead before I made the appointment to ask what the charges would be and was given a considerably lower price. I asked them to retract the bill they sent and confirmed with Medicare that they can do that. They say they can not Medicare repeated to me they can they are just refusing to. If they Invoice me the balance of the uninsured price I will gladly pay it. They have refused and expect me to pay more than there usual charges for the uninsured and more than they bill insurance for an eye exam. Had I not called ahead before setting the appointment this would be a non issue. The cost of the glasses was in addition to these charges of course. I expect doctors to be paid. But I also expect them to be honest. This office was not. Hey but it works out good for them right. They bill me $181 instead of the $150 insurance price or the $100 uninsured amount. And you can't convince that an office who files insurance claims on a regular basis doesn't know how the system works.

I am so very grateful for Dr. Bazemore. Even when I moved to Northern VA. I took the train back to continue in her care. It's been worth it!!
