I don't like to give bad reviews, but if it saves someone else some time and money, then it's a good thing. I saw Dr. Berkin when I moved here and really liked him, but what followed turned me off of this office. I unfortunately can't recommend them to anyone.
After what I thought was a thorough exam, I picked out my frames. It took quite a long time to get them, and once they arrived, I went in to try them on. The lady who helped with that rushed me through - she was with me less than 5 minutes, then I was ushered out the door.
I felt like the prescription wasn't right as I was driving home, and the more I wore them that day just confirmed it. I called the office to see what could be done, and got no empathy, just, "I'll give Dr. Berkin the message and he'll call you back." Long story short, I never got called back. They gladly took my money, but wouldn't correct their error. I read another review here of someone that had a similar experience. No feedback from the office at all, after they screwed up.
STAY AWAY!
Small office that is beautifully decorated, clean, they have a small table for children with magazines. The eye doctor was professional and knowledgeable. The staff I encountered were very nice in person. I am on a budget and was making sure to only request services that my insurance would cover. After my appointment for contact lenses, I was told to make a follow up appointment.
I was very hesitant to go because I live far away, have a 20 month old, cost of gas, time driving, etc. I was reassured that it would be FREE. I then received an unexpected bill from their office for this follow up appointment. I called to confirm this and tell my story to the receptionist. She was kind but did not give an apology or remove the fee. Unfortunately I have now transferred to another optometrist.
I'm been a patient here for years. Always a wonderful experience for myself and my children. Dr Melhoff provides excellent care and is very funny in the appointments. I've always gotten my glasses and contacts in a very timely fashion. I've only had one mess up by the lab one time and the office let me know right away and had it fixed immediately. The office is neat and clean and the staff is very pleasant.
My regular eye Dr was gone over the holidays and I had an emergency, Grays Harbor Vision Clinic was able to get me in immediately on two different occasions within Christmas week.
Dr Melhoff and the crew at GHVC were fantastic, they went above and beyond to accommodate me on such short notice.
What a disaster. I am so upset right now. I just received my new glasses from GHVC and they're truly awful! I spent a fortune on these because I desperately wanted and needed to be able to see clearly again. I worked many long extra shifts under high risk conditions just so I could save up enough to buy them.
I couldn't check them when I picked them up because they insist on everyone wearing face masks due to the virus (totally understandable), but as a result, my breathing kept fogging the glasses up so I couldn't see anything. The person helping me didn't care and just wanted to give me the glasses so they could move on to the next patient (the office staff here are very rushed, cold, and impersonal. Patients are treated like commodities to be processed and spit out as fast as possible). They didn't offer any safe way to adequately test or even a way to remove my mask and check them in a safe area (how about putting the patient behind a clear barrier so they can briefly take off their mask to check new glasses with something appropriate to look at like charts at different distances?) Instead, they sit you down in a chair against a wall in a high traffic hallway and you're only given a moment to check them without anything to really check them on. They also make you pay for them before even having a chance to look through them.
When I came home and looked through them, I was stunned by awful they were! This is so utterly heartbreaking, I spent hundreds of dollars for something I can't even use. This cost me everything I had worked so hard to save up and now I can't even use them.
I think they're in just too much of a hurry to do a good job with basic vision testing and making sure people get what they need. I don't know if I received someone else's glasses by mistake, if they failed to adequately test my vision, if they failed to check the glasses before giving them to me to make sure they were the correct ones, or what, but basically I feel like I was cheated out of something which was so exceptionally essential. They didn't even address the giant hole in my vision for the right eye which was hugely important and had been worrying me sick.
To sum it up, Grays Harbor Vision Clinic used to be pretty good, but now they're just too busy and they no longer seem to care about doing a good job or treating their patients like they're human beings. As a result, they're failing to deliver adequate care and services. Vision is so important and not being able to see clearly is a really big deal, don't they understand that?
This is catastrophic. Not just because all of this money has been spent for something which clearly doesn't work (essentially throwing away everything I had worked so hard to save up), but even more importantly because now I can't afford to get a new pair of glasses from someone else who will do a good job. Even if I continue to work every extra shift and save up enough to buy another pair of glasses, I still won't be able to get another because my insurance won't help with the costs after paying for these. Insurance will only help with the costs of one pair of glasses every one or two years. That's a long time for only being able to see the world as a bunch of blurry, undefined shapes.
I just wanted to be able to see the world around me clearly and sharply again, to be able to read again without getting headaches because the words are so blurry and to be able to look at a beautiful landscape and actually be able to see it as something more than blurry, fuzzy indistinct blobs. Having a good pair of glasses meant everything to me and not only did they totally fail to deliver on that, they robbed me of everything I had carefully saved up in the process.
probably the rudest clinic here in aberdeen. i have an eye emergancy needing to be seen and all the rude receptionist could say was well since you have had 2 no shows you have to pay $50 to be seen. i explained to the lady that i tried calling on my last appointment date because i was at work, and i called but nobody there answered the call. and she rudely said, well i don tknow that to tell you!!!!!! super unprofessional. i will NOT be going back there
Took my daughter here to get her eyes checked December 16th. Its now Feb 18 and have not heard anything. I call every week. I was told they are sent out to a prison in WA and thats why they take so long...ummm no... She has not had any glasses for the whole time. if i would have know it would take this long then i would have went elsewhere.
The Dr. here was Very informative, listened to what I had to say about my sight, and we got the correct Rx for me. I have gone to a different eye Dr. just down the road from these guys for years. Wish I would've made the switch sooner. Unfortunately the selection of frames was pretty limited, a lot of the styles were similar. But that was the only downside to my whole experience.
