I went to Dr. Howard Barnebey's office for the first time in 2011 for glaucoma, referred by my ophthalmologist. Over these 13 years, Dr Barnabey treated me with care to make sure my glaucoma will not progress. I have been always very satisfied with the care, professionalism and attention that he has given me. I had cataract surgeries by him and I have now perfect vision and no need glaucoma eye drops anymore. I am so happy that I have met Dr. Barnebey. Thank you so much! You have a very happy patient for life.
Terrible experiences. The doctor is rude and hard to communicate. I took my mom to her doctor appointment the other day. We waited for him for 15-20 minute. And I had several emails and important text I had to respond to while waiting. The minute he walked in, he said put your cell away. I said, give me a minute to wrap up my message and I'll be happy to. He shush me several times, as I'm trying to convey to him why I needed to wrap up. He threatened to leave the room and come back later (which I know would be a 2 hr. wait. At the point, what was an one hour appointment is already running over). I suggest why don't I leave the room to finish up what I'm doing and I can return later, and he can start doing what he needed to with my mom. He shushed me again. Very bad bedside manner. Would not recommend the doctor at all. He is cranky, short temper, hard to communicate, his sending of prescription to pharmacy is delayed more often than not.
We are looking for a new specialist for my mom.
Dr. Barnebey is professional, caring, patient, knowledgeable with a wonderful bedside manner. He takes the time to hear and answer his patients questions without rushing. The office staff are amazingly friendly and knowledgeable as well. Over all great experience.
I highly recommend Dr. Barnebey.
I have been a patient with Dr. Barnebey for 14 years. He and his staff are reliable, care about their patients, and communicate well. He does work with interns/new technicians so bear with them, for the most part they are great. Sometimes they don't check the chart and don't even know which eye they are treating which is such a pain. Worst part is scheduling: he is ALWAYS behind. I've waited for over an hour on multiple occasions because he overbooks, so clear your schedule. However he is a specialist and knows exactly how to treat his patients. Despite the lack of office efficiency, I would recommend him as a doctor.
Dr Barnebey is a great doctor and excellent surgeon and he does care about his patients. I would recommend him as a doctor. And pack your patience. As some have mentioned the appointment can run long. The eye care you'll receive is well worth the wait.
I saw this doctor for glaucoma and had a terrible experience. I saw him 4 times. The first time I saw him, he set a goal for my iop to come down to 14, and I liked that. The second time he gave me sample drops, the third time he told me to go off drops for a month since the drops did nothing, and the fourth time when my iop has gone way up and when I've lost a few month, he told me, he's discharging me because I saw someone for a second opinion. He expects me to trust him blindly. Well, I haven't gone blind yet and from my experience, this guy is all ego and zero compassion. I'm not really sure whether he discharged me because I don't trust him, or because he didn't know what to do with me. I hope it's the first and I'm not that hopeless. But I can only wonder, until I see another doctor.
Excellent doctor. I have multiple issues with my eyes and Dr. Barnebey has taken very good care of me. His staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. I'd recommend him to anyone who needs a specialist.
Dr Barnebey worked with my request to be able to continue to sail while operating in various weather conditions after my cataract surgery. His professional advice and expert surgical skill exceeded my expectation.
