While the optician did his job, the customer service is lacking. My husband has a social disability and his doctor referred him to this office because they take Medicaid. The receptionist was fine, but the optician worked with haste I was concerned my husband wasn't ready for him to switch the lens slides during the exam because he moved them so quickly, he didn't make eye contact or smile either. When I went to pick up his glasses today he had the same downcast irritable attitude, and tossed the script on the counter asking me to sign it. I understand he may have a hard life and is dealing with things but body language, eye contact, choice of words, tone of voice, those things go a long way with making a customer feel appreciated and comfortable. The glasses took several weeks to arrive at the clinic but that may be out of their control. Overall the experience wasn't great, but optician did his job, and I'm hoping the glasses work well for my husband.
Truly a terrible experience for our friends who had to go here. One of the few places that accepts their insurance. The person at the front desk ignored them as they came in, was extremely rude and disrespectful to a timid lady and her son who just needed to get glasses. The lady at the front desk refused to help them and so she called us to help. As friends she put us on speaker phone and we were able to talk to the lady and basically convince her to help. She started by saying a picture of the insurance card wasn't good enough even though she had her prescription with her but refused to ask and just said she can't help her and can't help her. Truly awful business that obviously only exists because they accept government insurance and could really care less if you're there or not. Truly, if you have anywhere else you can go, go there. I can't imagine a worse experience than Kent Valley Optical.
I am writing this for my brother, who picked up glasses yesterday. He is not computer literate. After many years of struggle, he is getting his life together under Christ, and eyeglasses are a huge deal for him and his life style, loving to read books. Here is what he frustratingly wrote " I was very disappointed in you service when I picked up my glasses. I have been saving for these as my insurance doesn't cover. You brought out the glasses and threw them on the counter, and walked away. You didn't make sure they fit or need adjusting, just like a coward ran back to your office out of sight. I had to ask the receptionist to bring you back out(she yelled back for you) and you shuffled back out, quickly adjusted them and repeated your turtle behavior by going back to your office. Such poor customer service. I have been looking forward to these glasses having spent years serving time, and you ruined the experience by your rude behavior. I felt like I was an inconvenience. "
One of the worst healthcare experiences I've ever had. The receptionist was rude, the wait times were long and the doctor made a crack about my walking cane.
When I picked my glasses up from them, the lenses were filthy. After getting them home, I discovered ghosting on the lenses that rendered them unusable. After calling and leaving a message, I received a text saying that I could bring the glasses back in eleven days for "the next step". I have received no further correspondence. Truly appalling. I'll be filing a complaint with my insurance company.
The exam and doctor were fine, but they have the worst hours of any business I've ever encountered in my lifetime. I am 57.
They say they are open 9-3:30, but when my glasses were ready, I received a text they could only be picked up between 9am and 11:45am or between 2-3:15pm, Monday thru Thursday. No weekends. No Fridays. Today, I get there at 10:30am after twice trying to meet their narrow windows for pickup. There's a sign taped to the door they are closed. Do not have hours posted on Google as 9-3:30pm if those are not your hours.
I appreciate the positive feedback regarding the optometrist. However, I am concerned about the durability of the eyewear, as the recent breakage within a short timeframe is a significant issue. We will prioritize enhancing the strength and resilience of our glasses in future iterations.
The doctor was very thorough and nice but the receptionist is horrible and the customer service from her was the same. I've been doing reception for over 25 years and that is not how you treat people. I work from 8-5 and its a new job so can't take any time off and asked if they could mail my glassed and said no. They aren't open on weekends and I was told the office would be closed next week. My daughter will be able to pick them up thank goodness but I won't ever go back to them.
I have been going to this optometrist since before I was 13 yrs old. I have loved the staff and the Dr. As well. Both my kids grew up knowing them as well. Sue always always was very warm to me throughout all my ups and downs in life. Always showed me people do listen and I can honestly say she makes going there mean she's much more than words can express....
