My experience was top notch!! The staff was super helpful and professional- from greeting to paperwork help to exams and glass recommendations. Doctor was fantastic- so helpful and spent time listening and explaining my recent eye changes. I was very pleased and impressed with the whole experience!!!
Beware of Specialty Eyecare Group (Kirkland, WA)
I had an appointment scheduled for Monday, Sept 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM. Their reminder email stated a $200 penalty for cancellations/reschedules inside 24 hours. Today (Sunday) I called their office and left a voicemail cancellation before my 24-hour window even started, but their office is closed on Sundays so there was no way to reach a live person.
Concerns with this practice:
- There is no way to cancel an appointment online, by SMS, or by email.
- Their website has no contact us page, no terms & conditions page, and no dedicated cancellation/inquiry email.
- They threaten patients with a $200 fee despite not providing basic consumer protections.
- Multiple negative reviews on Google, Yelp, and other sites mention questionable billing practices and rip-off policies.
Under Seattle/Washington State Consumer Protection Act (RCW 19.86) law, a business cannot enforce hidden or unfair fees without clear, accessible policies and reasonable means to cancel. Since I documented my cancellation via voicemail before the 24-hour deadline, I am legally not obligated to pay any penalty.
Given this experience and their poor transparency, I am not comfortable receiving care here and do not recommend this clinic to anyone. Patients deserve providers who value fairness, accessibility, and trust.

They were professional and courteous with some of the newest toys I've seen and very helpful with my keratoconus. I took a lot of stress off my shoulders after going to their office and talking with other people. Now just we have to wait and see how good the contacts are. Take a couple weeks for those to come in. Don't have off the shelf eyes
Everyone is helpful and polite, frames are pricey though, but service is very good.
=== Update: The doctors and front desk staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, but the billing department is extremely disappointing.
My appointment was in June 2025, and I paid the full amount at the time of service. Four months later, I was charged an additional $70. I emailed to ask about it and received no response. When I called, I was told I had a $60 balance due, and they had charged my saved debit card, plus a $10 late fee. Despite having my phone number and email, they made no attempt to contact me -- they claimed to have sent a letter by mail (in 2025).
When I asked billing to explain the charges, I was given contradictory information that didn't make sense. I requested escalation twice, then followed up with multiple emails, but eventually they stopped responding altogether.
I still believe the $60 charge -- and especially the $10 fee -- were incorrect. I'm leaving this review because I've lost all hope of getting a proper explanation or correction.
Don't count on Specialty Eye to call you back if you try to request a follow up appointment after you get your glasses from them. This optical is by far the worse I've encountered for their lack of professionalism and competence. The optician doesn't know how to advice you on the right size glasses for the type of lens you need. I brought in a pair of frames and asked if they'd work for progressives and she said yes. I found out after they made the glasses that the frames were too big so the position of the near vision is too low and when I try to read books or my phone, the part of the lens that my eyes can see is still for the distance vision. Despite having paid more for an eye exam and progressive lenses, the glasses were not the right prescription so I can only use them for distance and not for reading. After calling them 4 times and in 6 months to see the optometrist, I gave up. I wouldn't have minded paying for the extra tests they did if they actually delivered a working and useable pair of glasses.
The doctors and staff and Specialty Eye are attentive, thorough and took the time to explain everything to me. An added plus, the glasses were affordable!!! Thanks
Great and thorough experience. It's been 20+ years since I had been to the eye dr for a routine appointment. Couldn't have been happier!
This company will blow your phone up weekly to reschedule your eye exam if you haven't gotten a "new" one by their standards. Additionally, they will hold your script hostage and refuse to give it out even if your vision hasn't changed, they will force you to come in for a new exam. Never going here again! Unbelievable business practice.
