I'm pretty sad about not going to this office anymore. I really appreciate Dr Bhangu, she helped me through some complex eye issues. The review is not for the eye care but rather the abysmal patient experience via the front desk and call center.
Me, my husband, and our two kids have been going to this location for years, and all had annual exams scheduled for this week. Two years ago, as I was switching insurance, I had an eye appt. I'm not sure if they billed the wrong insurance or just didn't update my information correctly, but either way, they sent me a bill months later for the entire amount. I called back multiple times to try and figure out what the issue was, and no one ever returned my call. I assumed it had been billed correctly and fixed after all as no one ever called me back.
Fast forward to another 6 months or so and I now receive a letter from a collection's office. Again, no one returned my phone call when I tried to reach out.
This last month, I tried again to call them to book appointment. I called four times and left four messages. I was on the edge of giving up and going somewhere else, but it is really a pain to switch doctors after you find someone you like. So I went online and realized you could book an appointment through their website, so that's what I did.
I booked an appointment for last Saturday, which they called me a couple of hours before to let me know that they'd had to reschedule because the Dr was out. We rescheduled to this morning. When I went in, the front desk person tells me that I to have to pay the copay of $39 plus the collection balance ($120) before they will see me, and says there's a note on my chart. I explain to her that I have tried to call many times to get it resolved and no one responded, I was not told that I would have to pay this prior to my appointment, and I really wanted to talk to someone who could help me. She explained that she "doesn't really work there" and is "just covering" but still refused to let me see the Dr without paying the collections amount. She also said that since it's been so long, they can't rebill insurance. So basically, I'd be out $120 because of their mistake. Just not ok with me. Since she said I couldn't have my appointment without paying, I left. And will be canceling my husband and kid's appointment this week, too. When we are swimming in optometry options in this town, I will sadly be going somewhere else due to the unresponsiveness and lack of care here.
The eye doctor and staff were extremely professional, thorough, and kind throughout my visit. Everything was explained clearly, and I never felt rushed. The staff was especially helpful when it came time to pick out frames--they offered honest input and made the process easy and enjoyable. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. Highly recommend.
This place is amazing, I have been a Pearl Vision customer for years and I will not go to anyone else to take care of my eyes.. They are very very professional and they really care about your eye health. I can't say enough , this is a place to go to, wonderful people they answer all of your questions and put you at ease and help you through everything thing from start to finish. I give them a 100 percent rating , so please if you need a place that really cares this is your go to place. Jeanette Warren.
Professional, appointment was on time and quick. They have the machine that takes a picture of the eye. So no eye dilation! Staff was very helpful, processed all the insurance and billing right there. You can fill out all the paperwork online before you get there to save time.
The doctor confirmed my medical history and previous eye prescription. Felt listened to and heard. Discussed my options for this visit and what may be needed in the future.
The frame side of the store (Pearle Vision) staff are great too! Lots of options at different price points. Didn't feel pushed,
or pressured into more expensive frames. Legitimately it was about what I wanted. Pricing is simple and clear.
Clean and tidy offices.
Parking is easy, flat level entrance with ADA parking. Driveway is easy to navigate for lower cars/vans. Close to the Tacoma Mall. Bonus, lots of food options in the area.
LGBTQIA friendly.
Everyone asked for and used my name. Felt like any other patient.
Helped me find the type and style of frames I wanted they matched my goals. Lots of customers shopping across the collections, not just from the 'M or F sides'.
Great experience! Dr. Ekman was excellent, he answered all my questions and made sure that I was receiving the proper treatment. Michelle was extremely helpful picking out frames and understanding what I needed and was looking for. Highly recommend!
Only complaint was that the tiny swivel chair used for the initial screening room next to reception was very wobbly and made me feel unsteady, as if I might fall backwards and smack my head on the floor at any moment. The exam room in the back was fine. Doctor was great at explaining everything and all of the staff were very nice
First time here. My experience was great! Yes, I paid the extra price, but my last place did the same, so this added optional expense didn't shock me as it did some.
I went after a long day at work, when I got there I checked in, everything went very quick. If you think it seems chaotic it's because everyone is doing their part of the job, process goes quickly.
After I was finished with the exam a nice lady helped me pick out frames. They have a good variety of name brands, and I paid less than at my last place. I am very happy I came here.
Very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. The services offered are quick, efficient, and come with no hassle whatsoever. The building and equipment is well maintained, clean, and orderly. The entire experience itself, was a very nice experience. 10/10 would go back for future vision needs!
