We had the best experience on 7/5/2023, at 103.6 years young, yes amazing, Grammy wanted to share her experience with Dr. Pate & his staff. "They were so kind & helpful, Stacey helped me with all my pre-test for the Dr. to review. Dr. Pate made my day by telling me everything looked great, I read the eye charts, he told me my pressures were good, my eye drops were doing great to maintain my pressure. So relieved, I will be returning next July, 2024 for my annual eye exam." Next stop LensCrafters to Ck out some new frames.

Awful place. I ordered contacts in November of 2023 and one of the contacts was blurry. I am not a daily contact wearer and work a lot so it wasn't until May 2024 that I had another visit with Dr. Pate to let them know about the blurry contact. They said the axis looked off on the original order and gave me a trial that was crystal clear. They told me if all was well to call them back after a few weeks and they'd reorder the fixed prescription. I called a couple weeks later and left a voicemail that they got it right and to go ahead and reorder. I get my first day off in months here in October 2024 and I called and left a voicemail in the morning saying I'll come finally pick up my contacts and they called me back a few minutes later saying they don't have any contacts for me. I told them that I visited in May and that they should have some on reorder and I'd even return the unused contacts (4 out of 6 from the originally box unopened) and they said to come up. So I burned 45 minutes of driving on my first day off in months and they refused to take back the wrong contacts and then refused to fill my order. They said they wouldn't reorder since it was beyond 6 months of the original prescription - but I didn't want the original prescription I wanted the correct prescription that should've been placed in May. Why did they even have me come in today if they had no intention of fixing their mistake? I've got a family of 6 that have gone to this place in the last past couple years and it looks like we won't be coming back. Absolutely absurd.

I've been here yearly for 4 years, came first when I had a cornea abrasion from a lake accident shortly after moving home. Haven't had any issues until today. I hit myself in the eye with my phone charger yesterday, it hurt and watered for quite some time. Today I have a little pressure in that eye, with tearing and blurry vision. I think I probably need to get it checked out and a quick google search confirms. I call to see if he's got any availability for an injury exam just to make sure I don't need an antibiotic eye drop. The RECEPTIONIST told me that this wouldn't qualify for an urgent appointment and he has no regular appts until next Thursday. I just had my annual appt in December, I do not need an annual appt. I'll be moving eye doctors and so will my husband. I'm so tired of the lackadaisical attitude of medical staff at this point.

The appointment itself was fine, the staff were mostly polite, which is honestly just a basic requirement. However I was supposed to be fitted for contacts a week later, and then again a week after that. 2 months later I haven't received the contacts, and they claim that the weather has caused them to be delayed. The weather has been intermittently bad for a few days over the last few months, but absolutely not bad enough to halt production or the mail. Ultimately i will give them 2 stars as when I asked for a refund for the contacts they didn't fight me on it too much. I don't recommend making an appointment here, especially if you're getting contacts.

Appointment went well until it came time to deal with billing. Billed the insurance company wrong and had to pay an extra 50 dollars for contact fitting. When I tried to resolve they would not answer and refused to order contacts. Very disrespectful and hung up on me while speaking to them to try and resolve. Stay as far away as possible!

Went today for my first visit with Dr.Pate for my yearly exam. I am one of the few people that is more apprehensive about the eye doctor appointment than with my dentist appointment! All that apprehension went out the door when I met Dr. Pate and his staff. They were all very nice and helpful. Dr.Pate was extremely knowledgeable and explained every detail of my eye exam and it was interesting ! He went the extra mile and gave me contacts, which he had in my prescription which is unusual for me. I will have no problem suggesting Dr.Pate to my family and friends. I have read the other reviews and have to say my experience was superb!

This was my 3rd visit to Dr. Pate in a 6 year time frame & l would recommend him to Anyone, he throughly explains everything he is doing and my eye sight had improved this visit (unusual for a 60yr old). I think he's on of the best OD, doctors in WV. My whole family goes to him. We think he's the best. Also his Staff is absolutely wonderful as well. They went out of their way to accommodate Me & find our new insurance company. All in All a great visit with a great OD & his Staff. #eyeballer.

This is absolutely the worst optometrist ever. I have been trying to get my contacts and it has been almost a year and they still can't get my prescription right. The prescription is wrong and then they even switched my left and right lens. Stay away from this very incompetent doctor and staff.
